Michael Savage Architect of New Political Party?

Recently Dr. Michael Savage, during one of his nationally syndicated radio programs stated that he is going to be the architect of a new Nationalist political party. He stated that he would be the “architect” and not the “builder” of such a party. Is Savage now backing down from his original position when he stated that he was going to “create” a new Nationalist party?

Of course I might be reading too much into his words. He did not get into any specifics of what being the architect entails. I certainly hope that he begins to unfold his plans for us his audience.

Last year Savage stated that he would give more details in the coming year (2009) and since then, true to his word, this is the first mention again of the subject. One would have to believe that Savage is serious about his belief in the need for a new political party.

Yet one is forced to wonder by his words, if after looking into the matter with his attorneys, Savage concluded that it is all but impossible to establish such a party because of the legal hoops which one must jump through.

Why that might be the case is a story for another time. I would only comment at this time that one would suspect that if one wished to create a political party one would simply gather an association of like mined individuals. Since the system is rigged it should not come as a surprise to anyone that there would be many obstacles placed in the path.

But what does Savage include in being the “architect” of a political party? Is he simply going to say this is what we need to do now you go out and do it? Or is he, as previously stated going to put his own money into it? Remember he previously stated that he was going to “create” such a party.

If this is a real plan which will have legs then Savage is going to have to form a team of highly dedicated people be they volunteers or a paid staff, perhaps a combination of both paid staff and volunteers who hold the same vision as Michael Savage.

Savage has the radio time in order to give direction, but is his audience dedicated enough to be more than sideliners? Will they in fact mass to the call for action? Will they work in unison or will they like so many others simply fight for prominence and attempt to make it their own agenda?

I guess that we will simply have to wait and see what Michael Savage has planned for us. But it seems clear that the Republican Party has no hope of ever fulfilling the needs of people who desire simply to see a sane political party which holds true to real American values.

What is your plan Dr. Savage? We all want to know. Few if any can accomplish what you are attempting to be the architect of. Can you do it Michael? Will you be successful? Show us just how much influence on the political frontline you really have General Savage!

US Airways Considered Teterboro Airport as Possible Emergency Landing Site

Apparently the pilot of US Airways Flight 1549, an Airbus A320 headed from New York's LaGuardia Airport to Charlotte, North Carolina considered the possibility of making an emergency landing at Teterboro Airport (TEB) located a few short air miles from the site where the craft made a successful water landing in the Hudson River off of the Westside of Midtown Manhattan.

Considering the size of the airbus A320 I am uncertain if it would be able to land safely within the perimeter of Teterboro Airport even under ideal conditions. But to consider such a landing under the conditions of a double flameout is, in my view, unthinkable. Clearly without full reverse thrust there would be little room for error.

The facility which is owned and operated by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is a small diverter airport which handles a considerable amount of charter and corporate air traffic. It is a cross runway field within a heavily congested area.

The runways of Teterboro Airport are numbered 1/19 and 6/24. Runway 1 is approached from the Southwest ending at the termination of the field at the Arrestor Bed at Route 46. Sharing that landing strip is Runway 19; approach is from the Northeast ending at the arrestor bed at Moonachie Avenue. The strip length is 7000 feet by 150 feet.

The cross runway is 6/24. Runway 6 is approached from the South ending at the open field and the intersection of Route 46 and Industrial Avenue. Runway 24 is approached from the North directly over Hackensack University Medical Center ending at the steel barricade at the intersection of Moonachie Avenue and Redneck Avenue. The strip is 6013 feet by 150 feet.

The pilot and crew did an outstanding job in bringing this craft down in the Hudson River while avoiding serious injury or death. This incident could have been a major disaster in view of the density of the population below.

If anything it shows just how delicate a balance exists between the airline industry, the needs of the flying public and the communities which live under this airspace. More needs to be written by the investigative journalists in South Bergen and North Hudson Counties on what part Teterboro plays, and is capable of playing, in such emergencies.

What Does 2009 Hold?

Well, it is yet another year gone by and what a year it has been. I doubt that there are many among us who are sorry to see it go. We all are hopeful that the New Year will bring better times. But will 2009 see the improvements in the economy we all hope for? That is the 20 million dollar question.

Within this month we will see the swearing in of the new President, a historical first as the first non white takes the reigns of our nation. Without regard to that little racial fact, President Obama will have much to deal with. We are facing hard economic times which will likely become much worse regardless of the actions taken by the new President.

In addition to the severe economic issues the world seems to be on the brink of possible global war. Israel is prepared to defend itself against constant missile attacks from the Gazza. With air strikes against targets in Gazza City and the high likelihood of boots on the ground shortly this conflicts can only lead to greater conflicts in the wider region.

Indeed the hope for peace in the coming year is a long shot at best. It is my belief that Obama will not meet the hopes of his supporters in ending the United States involvement in the region. Even if he ends are actions in Iraq it will only be in order to move troop deployments to other hot spots.

What then are the prospects for little Israel? Dr. Michael Savage has said on many occasions, Israel is the canary in the mine. Indeed the United States is the coal miner for whom the canary gives warning of danger. Will this nation have the good sense to keep careful watch on that canary?

More importantly will the United States protect its canary? The actions being taken currently by Israel are crucial to what the United States will face in the near future. It is possible that Israel will be the proxy for the destruction of Iran’s nuclear arsenal. Without a direct strike against Iran, likely this year, the survival of Israel is highly questionable.

It shall indeed be a year of great political activity. If the actions of radical Islamic fundamentalists are not crushed this year, a thing which I doubt can be easily accomplished; the world is in for very hard times.

Will President Obama be up to the task? If he is serious about fulfilling his oath of office, he will need to forget about political debt and simply do the job. Obama has the rare opportunity to go down in history as one of the greatest Presidents in American History.

On the other side of the page he is in the position of becoming the individual recorded in the books of world history as the last American President. Yes friends, it is my view that world conditions might become so severe during this administration that this might indeed be the end of the United States of America.

It is time for all of America to sober up. Happy New Year indeed!!!

The title of this posting might sound a bit strange, but in reality has a good reason for being asked. While it is common for a President Elect to form his cabinet prior to taking office, it appears that President Elect Obama is already acting in the capacity of the Executive.

The way the press conferences are conducted gives the obvious appearance that Obama is already calling the shots. And considering the lack of the presence of George W. Bush in media one wonders if the President is so burned out from all of the things which have gone wrong in the last few months that he is in fact just a little less than a lame duck President.

Even radio talk show host Michael Savage has questioned the apparent assumption of control by the President Elect. And it is a pretty accurate observation on the part of Savage, who seems to have a good insight into the day to day headlines which never seem to make the mainstream media.

Interestingly since Philip Berg is still in the legal process proving that Obama is not legally qualified to hold office, then how does the issue of this apparent assumption of the mantle of President of the United States of America play into this scenario?

Could the recent information concerning the deployment of military troops within the United States have anything to due with possible riot control should there be a decision by the United States Supreme Court?

Indeed these are very interesting times.

Michael Savage Inks New Deal

After many months of introspection, nationally syndicated radio talk show host Michael Savage has announced that he has signed a new contract with Mark Masters, his current syndicator. Masters, C.E.O. of Talk Radio Network said that he is thrilled that Savage is going to remain with the group.

According to Savage, one of if not the most important issues is that he has total freedom over the content of his broadcast. Savage attributes his relationship with the network to God’s hand at work.

Savage is heard Monday through Friday on over 300 radio stations nationally. Drudge was the first to congratulate Savage on his new contract. His audience is surely thrilled that he will remain at the microphone for at least the next few years.

Michael Savage Drops the S Bomb

The innocence of the ears of Snake Oil Sam was damaged, perhaps irreparably, while listening to Michael Savage during the six o’clock hour (E.S.T.) of his Wednesday, October 19, 2008 broadcast. Savage inadvertently used the bad ‘S’ word. Yes, indeed the intended word “Flagship” was replaced by the word, “Flagshit.”

It seems that no one on the Savage staff was on the ball in order to hit the dump button. I find it hard to believe that Savage works without delay, considering that he is a professional broadcaster. Granted it was a mere slip of the tongue, but with the Federal Communications Commission (F.C.C.) a.k.a. Uncle Charlie holding sway, it would be wise to avoid such disastrous words.

Face it; with the amount of words that Savage speaks in the course of a broadcast, all coming off the cuff, it is surprising that such accidents are not more common. While he has from time to time stopped himself from saying words which he feels in his heart, this one was clearly a simple slip of the tongue.

Really though, with all of the use of such words in society today becoming so commonplace, all I can say is who really gives a flagship. I hope that the political correctness police don’t haul Savage away!

New Jersey Gang Corruption

New Jersey appears to be having a large problem with the growth of street gangs into its suburban communities. The subject is being highlighted in a front page above the fold article in The Record. It seems that the issue of corruption has reached right into the New Jersey prison system where officials are smuggling in contraband for the gang connected inmates.

According to the article, during a hearing into corruption in the New Jersey prison system experts said “rouge guards and other staff members smuggle in cell phones so the imprisoned gangsters, overwhelmingly members of the Bloods, can direct business all over the country."

One issue which got my attention while reading this article jumped right off the page since it brought to mind what Michael Savage has been saying for a long time. Allow me to quote the portion of the article.

An unnamed corrections officer stated during testimony that he witnessed gangsters who are “trying to get [friends] in the right positions”- that is, prison and police jobs, and even in the military.

“Mainly they want to join the Army and Marines, go into combat zone, then they get the training,” the guard said.

Clearly this country has a lot to be concerned about internationally. Still, this is not the time to lose focus on internal matters of security.

The Art of Time

Before picking up a publication dedicated to the art of the timepiece, I had never thought of time as a form of art. Truly though, time can be art when expressed in the form of a wristwatch.

For some a watch is an outward expression of success. In a way I would suppose that it is a reflection of financial success. Considering the cost of a fine timepiece, it is a way of subtly displaying such wealth.

Others however see a wristwatch as simply a way of keeping track of time. I have always been such an individual. Able to still remember my first watch, I look back with fond memories of the day my father bought me that watch. Yes son, Timex is the way to go, he said.

“Timex takes a lickin’ and keeps on tickin’” he declared. I did not know that was the Timex motto. I was so proud of the little kid size watch. Clearly manhood had been attained that day when I first strapped on that watch.

Now though, as my eyes have been opened to the beauty of a fine timepiece, I find myself craving to own one or more of those beautiful timepieces. Not having achieved near the level of success to purchase one of those beautiful works of art, I am left in a vacuum of class envy.

Thoughts on the Obama Victory

Once again America has spoken, and spoken loudly. The majority have elected, for the first time ever an African American. Although I, along with many others do not believe that Obama will live up to the ideals which he represents as his values I am happy at least to be able to say that we, as a nation can no longer be called racist.

For the first time ever this nation has been able to overcome the prejudice which has separated it from itself. A man, who only a few short decades ago, certainly in my lifetime, could not drink water out of the same public fountain as I could in certain states, will now occupy 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

That, in my view says much about this country. We are healing from the actions of past generations. That though is not enough to heal the wounds of the past. We each must take it upon ourselves to live up to the ideals of the nation as our forefathers purposed it to be.

Especially so, those who have been elected to the public trust must carry out their commission with honor and dignity. President Elect Obama must set the standard of returning integrity to government. He must stand up for the people and do so with openness. Daylight must be permitted to shine upon his high office with the greatest of transparency.

Words spoken at a victory speech in Chicago are easy. The tough part is making them come to pass. Clearly much of what he said throughout his campaign and up to his victory speech is nothing more than political rhetoric. However, come January 20, 2009 the actions have to coincide with the words. Will they? Time alone will tell.

When the next Supreme Court Justice is nominated what will that individuals mindset be? Will it be to carry out the Constitutional dictum? Or will it be to continue and expand the philosophy of intellectualist activism? How will Obama act after the celebrants of this historic night have gone to bed?

Will he be President of all the people, or simply those who are of his political liberal bent? Mr. Obama, words mean things! In all due respect sir, it is now time to put up or shut up. Conservative America is watching everything you do, so do the right thing. Please! Do the right thing.

The Letter Home

Recently I began to fool around with You Tube, something which until now I have not attempted to do. But since I have had a little extra time on my hands, I am starting to put together my own You Tube Channel.

I have as of yet not produced any of my own videos and it is questionable whether or not I ever will. In any event I am attempting to put something together on Snake Oil Sam’s News Beagle, uniting it with my new Snake Oil Sam You Tube Channel.

Simply, to begin I am going to post a work by the well known young Writer, Director and Producer, Marco Chierichella of New York City and points west. This short film is set in World War 2 Germany and tells an interesting story of the lives of a soldier and the woman whom he dearly loves waiting back home.

The main character in this film is played by Rocco Chierichella, brother of the Producer. The narration is the voice of Rocco an outstanding actor in his own right. I hope that you all enjoy this video.

The quality production value of this award winning film speaks for itself.

Philip Berg Will Appeal Obama Lawsuit to United States Supreme Court

With what is the next twist in a story that is already apparently full of twists, Philip Berg has had his lawsuit challenging the citizenship status of Senator Obama dismissed. According to his website OBAMA CRIMES, Berg said, "I am totally disappointed by Judge Surrick's decision and, for all citizens of the United States; I am immediately appealing to the U.S. Supreme Court.”

Berg, an attorney in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania announced on October 25, 2008 that he is immediately appealing the dismissal of his case to the United States Supreme Court. The case is Berg v. Obama, No. 08-cv-04083.

Having previously made comment on the matter, I am following up the story with this post. If in fact Berg manages to have the case heard by the Supreme Court, something which is not likely to happen too quickly, it shall prove interesting at the very least.

What then if the case, after being heard and investigated, is found to be true and that Berg is correct. If before January 20, 2009, assuming that Obama is victorious and is to be sworn in then would the Chief Justice refuse to give the oath of office? Would he have any alternative but to refuse to give the oath of office to Obama?

Worse yet, if already sworn into office what would be required to remove the then President Obama from office? This might just be one of the most important Constitutional issues ever to go before the Supreme Court if it does in fact get accepted as a case to be heard.

I honestly would not want to be standing in the shoes of Philip Berg at this moment in time. I do commend the Gentleman from Pennsylvania for his courage. Very few people would be willing to stick their neck out on such a sensitive issue. But according to Berg the only thing that matters is our Constitution and upholding it in defence of law.

As I stated in a post about the Justice Department of the United States they are apparently looking into what is being said on the internet regarding this matter. Whether they are investigating Obama or Berg is not clear as I stated in an addendum to that article.

Is Justice Department Investigating Obama Citizenship Issue?

Clearly the issue of the legality of Senator Obama seeking the high office of Chief Executive of the United States of America, in view of his apparently questionable citizenship status, is being considered by the United States Justice Department. The Justice Department is blog searching Philip Berg.

After hearing what a former Deputy Attorney General of Pennsylvania, Philip Berg stated to Dr. Michael Savage I wrote some of my own thoughts on the issue. It seems that I was visited by the United States Justice Department. Exactly what they were looking for is not known to me other than that they use the search word Philip Berg. It would seem to me that they might simply be looking to see what the bloggers have to say.

It will be interesting to learn just what result the Savage interview with Berg is going to have on the Obama campaign this late in the election season. If in fact Obama is not legally qualified to hold the office then he had better confront this issue immediately.

As radio talk show personality Bob Grant stated on 770 WABC the invalidation of Obama at this time could result in riots. If that does in fact happen, then the loss of property or life will be on the head of Obama if in fact he is not qualified for legal reason.

It is for that reason that the good Senator needs to think a great deal about the actions which he takes in this important issue. Truth is that innocent people might very well lose their life due to his actions if in fact he sought the high office without legal right.

Addendum: After giving a little more consideration to my statement above that it is clear that the Justice Department is in the process of investigating Senator Obama, I want to add an additional thought.

Since the United States Department of Justice is blog searching the name Philip Berg, it is conceivable that the Justice Department is in fact investigating Philip Berg rather than Senator Obama since what Berg is saying could have a powerful effect on the outcome of a national election.

If in fact Berg is misrepresenting any fact in order to change the outcome of this election it would be conceivable that he is the target of any Justice Department investigation.

Michael Savage Starts Firestorm

After hearing on The Savage Nation the interview with Philip Berg, lifelong democrat and a former Deputy Attorney General of Pennsylvania, I believe that Michael Savage has launched what might just turn into a full scale federal investigation into the birth records of Barack Obama.

This story has received little play in the media until now. It is the contention of Berg that Obama is not a legal natural born citizen of the United States. With Savage pulling out the stops I think that this is something which is going to possibly sink the political aspirations of the likely next President.

Berg contends that Obama was born in Kenya. The simple question is, if there is no validity to this story then why not simply produces a valid live birth certificate from Hawaii and put the story to rest. It is my understanding that has not as of the time of my writing this, taken place.

Savage suggests that the trip Obama is making to Hawaii under the guise of being with his ailing grandmother is related to the birth certificate story. How going there can make any difference at this point in time is beyond my imagination. If the birth certificate does not exist then it isn’t there. What can he do to change that?

But since Obama has not proven his eligibility to hold the high office he might be facing a big national political crisis. Considering the amount of information one must provide to obtain a U.S. passport, you might think that everyone seeking such high office would be compelled under law to provide such legal birth documentation as a first step.

Oddly, when the question arose about the eligibility of John McCain due to issues surrounding his own place of birth, Obama did not go anywhere near that matter. Could that be due to the fact that he knows his own political nightmare could explode as it now seemingly has exploded?

Clearly Savage is going to stay on this story which strangely no other significant national talk show host has dared to touch. Will Philip Berg with the aid of Michael Savage be responsible for shutting down the Obama machine? On the other hand will the Obama machine take down Berg and Savage?

I have no idea what the truth is in this matter, still it is a fascinating situation. If in fact Obama is not able to hold the office and is removed by the courts from the ballot what will be the result within the minority community. Indeed any minority would rightly view it as yet another attack against that community.

I believe that at this late date when it is a horse race and the likely winner will be Obama the action of forcing him off the ballot will create social unrest as has not been seen in this country in decades.

On the other hand is it wise to ignore the Constitution of the United States of America in order to avoid social conflict? Clearly not! Likely the courts will allow the election to go on as scheduled, with the hope that Obama simply is the loser. With that action eliminating any possibility of civil unrest the situation will then be able to be dealt with behind closed doors between Obama and legal counsel.

If in fact that scenario plays out there is yet another issue in play. Obama would not be qualified to hold his office in the United Sates Senate. No matter what the final outcome, one thing is clear. This has been one of the most hotly contested and convoluted political campaigns of all time.

No Savage No Vote

Michael Savage says the only hope that John McCain has for victory is the Savage Nation. Declaring that not being a guest on Savage radio program will guarantee the failure of the Republican Party to win the White House in November Michael Savage declared “No Savage, No Vote.”

Call Washington, flood the R.N.C. with e-mail and fax calls demanding that McCain present himself to the conservative base of the Savage Nation or lose the election. While McCain has done many small and unimportant radio shows Savage is incensed that McCain won’t appear on Savages’ program.

If in fact McCain never appears on the Savage Nation then, if and when McCain does in fact fail at his presidential bid, Michael Savage will then be all the stronger being able to claim the loss as his own statement of fact. And who will be able to deny that claim. Sure, it will be improvable and yet a claim which Savage will undoubtedly make. And why shouldn’t he?

On yet another related matter Savage recently stated that he is having difficulty creating the new Savage Party. He seems to be running into what he seems to suggest are roadblocks created to prevent anyone from forming a third party.

Though I have no idea what is involved I am certain that many of what he sees as obstacles are just the standard red tape that all bureaucracies create in order to justify their existence.

I would imagine that Savage must meet the standards of each individual state if he is going to be successful. Actually, I don’t know why individuals can’t simply get together and do what they believe to be right. Still if that were true then there would be no need for lawyers.

Savage will work at the issue and I hope that he doesn’t give up on the idea but after all he is just one man.

The Results of the Financial Crisis in Human Terms

Being the lazy sort who doesn’t feel like doing his own research I just borrowed this information from the blog of an acquaintance. Apparently the financial crisis is having a very negative effect on the lives of individuals.

"An out-of-work money manager in California loses a fortune and wipes out his family in a murder-suicide.”

"A 90-year-old Ohio widow shoots herself in the chest as authorities arrive to evict her from the modest house she called home for 38 years.”

"In Massachusetts, a housewife who had hidden her family's mounting financial crisis from her husband sends a note to the mortgage company warning: "By the time you foreclose on my house, I'll be dead." Then Carlene Balderrama shot herself to death, leaving an insurance policy and a suicide note on a table.

"Across the country, authorities are becoming concerned that the nation's financial woes could turn increasingly violent, and they are urging people to get help. In some places, mental-health hot lines are jammed, counseling services are in high demand and domestic-violence shelters are full."

Funny how there hasn’t been any stories yet about someone who is just a little bit unstable to begin with going to work with a lot of guns and ammo and taking out the supervisor staff. Hmmmm?

Michael Savage Creates New Political Party

Just one day after announcing that he was looking into legally establishing a new political party Dr. Michael Savage announced that lawyers are now in the process of legally establishing a new political party. Because he believes that without taking such action the United States of America as it has long existed will soon cease to exist. Savage has by this action taken what is likely one of the boldest moves ever taken by a radio personality.

Clearly this action will give the left and perhaps even the Republican center reason to push for a fairness doctrine in order to shut down such an effort. It is possible with enough support from his vast audience that such a political party might be able to have some degree of influence. That of course all depends upon how much success the new yet unnamed party has in gaining the critical support of that audience.

Even if it is unsuccessful at unseating any current legislators it will in the very least be an alternative for those who see the current alternative Libertarian Party as something which they cannot support. But will Savage see his dream grow into an effective reality? Though I have difficulty believing that it can gain enough support to effect the national political landscape I sincerely hope that Savage finds much success in his new endeavor.

Michael Savage has made it clear that he is not interested in this project so that he himself might gain political office. It is his stated desire to have others qualified take the ball and run with it. Savage states that he will simply serve as a guiding element at the outrageously exorbitant price of one dollar per year.

Such an organization is clearly going to require a fulltime paid staff in order to make this organization functional and successful. Certainly it can and likely will begin on a volunteer basis, a thousand points of light. Without morphing into a full scale political machine it will not be a useful tool in the longterm.

Those who register as members of this new political party will need to act and vote in lockstep so that the party will be truly united in mission. Therefore I submit to Dr. Savage the name “United Americans Party.” I offer that name without cost to Michael Savage as a gift to him. It is my first gift to the new party.

Clearly bloggers are going to play a large part in getting out the message of the new party. It is going to be through word of mouth that things begin to move. But what will the agenda of the new party be? According to Dr. Savage it will be threefold. They are as follows. Borders. Language. Culture. Yes, indeed the old Savage standard will be what this party is about.

Addressing these three prime issue will tie into every aspect of what is now wrong with America. Savage has stated that the illegal invader problem being faced by the United States can be resolved with several simple steps. Place the military on the border so they can do what the military is designated to do, defend the border from invasion.

No illegal invader will be able to be schooled in the United States on the taxpayer's dime nor will anyone receive medical care at the expense of the taxpayer. It is the opinion of Savage that under such circumstance people who do not have a legal right to be here will go home.

The actions of government must be and indeed will be conducted in the one common language of the American people, English. There is no reason that people who reside legally in this country should need to carry on such activity in any but one common language. It will, according to Savage, become established law. As Savage has stated in the past regarding immigrants, we will not bend to your needs and desires. You will bend to ours.

Lastly of concern is the issue of Culture. The only real way of regaining control of the hearts and minds of the populace is to teach those who are here as legal immigrants and those future generations born here on America’s sovereign soil is to teach American history and American culture.

You cannot have people who are expected to be good Americans who have the ability to preserve and defend the Constitution when they don’t know what it says. Civics 101 will become the watchword. You cannot expect that people will simply become good Americans if you don’t demand that they adopt the culture which has been our heritage for the past several centuries.

As I see it this is precisely why Dr. Savage has begun this process of legally establishing this new party. No one else either Republicrate or Demican is going to get the job done, simply because they don’t want to get it done. It will offer a real choice for people who long for the good freedom that this country has always stood for.

Perhaps there is some degree of hope for this to work. It will take a lot of effort of a lot of good people working behind the scenes in order to make it all come together. It may be proof that one man can change the world.

Savage suggests that by the next national election cycle of four years he might be able to make a difference in this government with the help of his Savage Nation. The only question which remains as of time of this writing is does America have another four years?

My personal opinion is that it might very well not.

Will Michael Savage Form Independent Third Party?

Even though it was the Jewish holy day of Yom Kippur Michael Savage made a decision which he did not make without some serious internal debate. Rather than spend the entire day atoning for the sins of the past year Savage mulled the idea of a political party separate and distinct from the beltway insiders.

Savage sees this issue as something which he is being guided by divine direction to accomplish. Whether Gods hand is in it or not stands to be revealed by the passing of time.

Savage has long held that we Americans have been abandoned by our elected officials who have seemingly sold out to the corrupt Wall Street elite. Seeing no alternative Dr. Savage has announced the formation of an exploratory group to investigate the plausibility of an entirely new political party based on the concept of Boarders, Language and Culture.

During a recent program Savage stated that there is in fact no official Savage Nation as he had once proposed and created. It seems that such was more an idea and dream of his than anything. It sounds great as an introduction to a nationally broadcast radio show but lacked teeth. It seems that it was only useful for its radio production value.

However this idea of an actual legally established political party might have more validity. Finding pro bono legal people who have the knowledge to create, according to law, such an organization as seen by Savage as a real possibility is now in review. It should be noted though that the idea at this point is simply an idea and nothing more.

My own thought on the matter is that it will not gain enough momentum to have any real effect on national politics. Sure it might be able to make a dent in some local political action especially if enough people become organized in local geographic regions.

But to believe that it can gain enough momentum to effect national politics in perhaps the next four years as Savage suggested is difficult to imagine. Yes, as Savage claims he and other conservative talk show hosts like Limbaugh and Hannity have a vast listenership. But listening to people talk and taking time, your own time to make change in government is a big stretch.

In example, a recent appeal for financial contributions for the defense of Michael Savage in a court case, now dropped, Savage received the financial backing of about 25,000 listeners. That says to me that out of ten million listeners he can expect financial support from about that many people, less in actual logistic, boots on the ground support.

With those numbers it will not reflect in a blip on the political national radar. It could be better described as a pimple on the ass of a fly. As much as I like the idea I doubt that such action will be found in the long term to be sufficient to meet the hopes and dreams of Michael Savage.

It might look good on his tombstone someday but it will likely not have any impact on the corrupt American political landscape. Perhaps it will read something like this.

“Michael Savage the little train which couldn’t.” Or worse yet “Bonzo goes to Washington.” Sorry Mike, it is a great idea but it won’t happen in your lifetime. Enjoy the time you have left on Earth Mike. This world doesn’t deserve your talent, mind or ideals.

Since Savage often invokes scripture let me offer up some biblical perspective as to why the nation and indeed all nations are in freefall.

But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of stress. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, inhuman, implacable, slanderers, profligates, fierce, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, holding the form of religion but denying the power of it. Avoid such people. 2 Timothy 3: 1-5.

Wall Street Crisis and the Economy of Economy

Having heard so many differing points of view on the ongoing financial crisis purportedly facing the nation and perhaps the economy of the world I have been giving it some thought and must now officially weigh in on the matter. After all, putting in my two cents is what I do. With the current situation I may have little more than those two cents for contribution very soon.

Might it be that the crisis is more a crisis of several individual wealthy bankers who are simply trying to see to it that they maintain that wealth as much as is possible on the backs of hard working overtaxed Americans like you and like me? Are we perhaps nothing more that the “bunny” as described for Hope Cladwell by her wealthy father Caldwell Cladwell, head of U.G.C. and the staff of Urine Good Company?

Are we all being manipulated by a small group of men through fear and threat of complete meltdown if we don’t bail out the robber barons of Wall Street? Is this as Michael Savage has suggested one of the greatest financial scams of all time? After all it is such a large matter when one talks about Hundreds of Billons if not possibly several Trillion dollars that few if any but the greatest of economists can get their head around it.

Many have been living high on the hog for a long period of time. But that in-and-of-itself is not the cause of the current situation as it has developed and continues to develop. Much of the blame can be placed squarely on the shoulders of the political ultra liberal left. After all it was liberals who decided that everyone should have some sort of inherent right to own a home.

Because of such governmental intervention into the banking system people who had no business getting loans got those loans. As Larry Kudlow has said on more than one occasion with no “skin in the game” there is little to fear. Not only is his statement right on the money [Pun Intended] his statement will, I believe, become part and parcel to any new financial arrangement developed by Congress.

The days of no money down home loans are a thing of the past. Personal financial interest, skin in the game, and strong governmental regulatory oversight must be the way any future business is conducted. What though about the ability of a business to be able to grow to the point of implosion?

How in a free economy can government regulate the right of a company to grow as big as it is able to grow? On the other hand in view of the current situation on Wall Street one is forced to ask how government cannot intervene in regulating the size and scope of a business which affects not only the financial health of the community in which it is located but indeed the economic health of the world.

Have we reached the point where business to big to fail is no longer a possibility? As a result of the current Wall Street Banking financial failures it would appear that this is the case. In the real world can you create such a system of finance without changing the actual nature of the structure of the government itself? More specifically can you do such without changing the structure of the government of The United Sates of America?

More than a few economists have stated that any sort of governmental buyout plan of regulation is tantamount to socialism. If that is the case then are we as a people prepared to give up the system which we have lived under for so long in exchange for avoiding a total 1929 style meltdown. I say that with the cognizant thought that we may simply be Cladwell’s “bunny” noted in paragraph two above.

More importantly do America’s citizens really have any say in the matter? Sure we are alleged to have that say, we believe that we have that say, but in real world spectrum do we? That is doubtful.

What then are we to do in order to avoid our own personal meltdown? We have attempted in the past to make a little profit with a few dollars wisely invested in the stock market, a little nest egg of sorts. We hope that we are able to invest a little in a 401K plan and if you are as fortunate as I to work for a company like Quest Diagnostics which invests in its employees financial health with a dollar for dollar matching fund, you might think that you are in heaven.

Still, when things are so unstable on Wall Street you simply spend your time worrying that what you have invested over the years and what your employer has contributed will be vaporized due to the greed of a few Wall Street Gulf Stream Five fat cats who bail out and float on golden parachutes.

What can you do as an individual? It helps if you can economize in an unstable world economy. You can, you should, and you must practice the economy of economy. This often involves going without. Lessons learned by our grandparents might have to be relearned.

A skinny economy might not be a good thing for the economy as a whole but economizing can certainly take some pressure off of you individually. For those of us who already have fallen into the trap of excess spending it might be too late to come out of this thing unscathed.

Although not spending what was at one time refereed to as discretionary spending, a flawed term if ever one existed, is not in the best interest of the overall economy the average Joe Six Pack and Snake Oil Salesmen such as myself will have to sacrifice to the gods of economic frugalty a.k.a. penny pinching. When you see that nickel on the ground stand tall then when you are certain that no one is looking bend low.

Yes brothers and sisters bow to the gods of frugalty and grab that nickel before some homeless person gets it first. Indeed, we have as a nation been reduced by our representatives in government to a nation of beggars by a government of swindlers.

And don’t forget to vote for the Democrat or Republican crook of your choice. And in conclusion I simply say, “Fools on the left of me, jokers on my right.” Hey, get away from that nickel, I saw it first!

Urinetown The Musical

After a week of hearing about how the economy is going to hell in a hand basket I was able to enjoy a few hours of lighthearted entertainment. With family I was delighted to watch a small band of thespians perform a very humorous show named, Urinetown!

The cast of the group performing as Try-City Stage went all out to put on a great show. Through the efforts of Director Bill Thomas, who also filled the roll of Officer Lockstock, the show came to life. For a community theater company they did an admirable job of presenting this offbeat story.

The storyline developed its own odd and sometimes totally offbeat but always humorous way of showing how greed and deception can control a community living in fear to the extent that the simple need to “pee” for free can become an issue of contention. Revolts have occurred over some pretty strange matters but I don’t think that there has ever been a revolt as funny as this one.

From my own perspective I believe that the two characters which I most enjoyed were “Little Sally” played by the adorable Dionna Eshleman and the well educated and enchanting “Hope Cladwell” a.k.a. Paula Flickenschild.

Also among the stars that shown this night were Sandy Stalter as “Penelope Pennywise,” Tim Webster as “Bobby Strong,” Vicki Zielazny as “Senator Fipp” and "Caldwell Cladwell" played by Steve Davis.

I know that I have missed a few important names here for which I apologize. Suffice it to say that the entire cast gave wonderful support and some of the offbeat antics of cast members before the show and during intermission brought smiles to the audience of Urintown "The Musical," as Thomas surely reminds us.

The best part of Urintown is that it is, as noted in the title and confirmed in the context of the play, a “musical” which adds to the entertainment value in my estimation. Music tends to keep the production moving and the show had very few if any noticeably slow spots.

Though some of the voices are just a little south of perfection there was no question that Mr. Thomas himself has a pretty damn good set of pipes. Overall, the singing of the crew was not all that bad and was certainly better than my own daily shower concerts, guests by invitation only.

I hope that the community of Port Jervis, New York continues to support the efforts of Director Bill Thomas and his ensemble. Live theater truly is a great way to spend a couple of leisurely hours.

I truly enjoyed the theater experience and as it was dinner theatre the opportunity to relax and be entertained while enjoying a few glasses of wine made the event just that much more enjoyable.

As much as I enjoyed the venue, The Erie Trackside Manor, located at 1 Jersey Avenue in the fair City of Port Jervis, I would have liked to have been able to see the entire performance without need to crane my neck around a couple of support beams.

The music which consisted of an electric piano, clarinet and drums though small seemed to balance well without becoming more than simple accompaniment which complimented the singing.

Try-City Stage has just won a new patron in Snake Oil Sam. Nice Job Folks, I am looking with much anticipation to your next production. I might mention that “Urinetown the Musical” is presented through a special arrangement with Music Theater International, 421 West 54th. Street, New York, N.Y. 10019

A Legal Mystery of Savage Proportions

Since I noticed that I received a blog visit from a notable Chicago law firm, Ungaretti and Harris, I have to wonder if Michael Savage has been in contact with them for some legal advice related to his apparent physical harm caused by a surgeon.

Or perhaps it is the other way around and the surgeon is looking to take some sort of legal action against Savage due to the comments Savage made during his radio show downgrading the skills of the surgeon.

Or perhaps some legal beagle is looking at the News Beagle just to see what old Snake has to say about Michael’s Colon. Anyway I am glad to know that someone in a notable Chicago law firm wants to know what I have to say. Michael Savage Calls Doctor a Hack!

Apparently the medical procedure which Michael Savage recently underwent did not go very well. Due to complications of the colonoscopy Savage has been in considerable distress. Even with the abdominal pain which he is suffering Michael has managed to put in two hours each night against doctors orders.

Pain or no pain Savage is not going to stay away from the broadcast microphone with the looming financial scandal which seemingly is about to explode. But tonight the medical situation appears to have gotten the best of Savage when he unexpectedly broke into a tirade of invective about the doctor who screwed up what should have been a simple and harmless procedure.

Since we all depend on the good Dr. Savage to give us his unique insight on the events of the day I would like to extend to him my wishes for a speedy and full recovery. He was in fact the first to recognize what is really going on with the financial rip-off of the banking crises.

Savage was the first to call for a full investigation and it appears that such investigation is now in the process of occurring. One can only hope that those high rollers who are responsible for this mess, by playing fast and lose with the rules, will be called to account.

Not only should they have the financial and real holdings they have received through their deceptive practices seized, but the golden parachute they left with should be permitted to touchdown in Club Fed.

Perhaps one other aspect of that punishment should be a colonoscopy performed by the same doctor who did a number on the colon of Michael Savage.

Michael Savage Rejects Bailout as Solution

One of the first people to ridicule the proposed U.S. Government financial bailout of the financial markets was, not surprisingly Michael Savage. While most looked at it as a simple yet extraordinarily expensive solution to the crisis of the century, Savage was speaking out against it immediately on both its constitutional and financial reasoning.

At first it appeared that this was a done deal that Congress would sign onto without much debate. But now it appears that at least some have concerns and have no plan on giving President George W. Bush a blank check.

Since no one knows the final cost of this bailout it is certain to cause a lot of concern in the halls of Congress. At least it is hopeful that those who represent the people would take the time to look very closely at what brought us to this point and demand answers from those responsible.

Dr. Savage sees this as the possibility of yet another 9-11 type whitewash. In reality how, Savage asks can anyone expect a true fact finding hearing from people who all have hands in the pockets of those responsible? Great question indeed!

If in fact the bailout does get Congressional approval it would be mandatory that those who created this financial debacle be brought to justice as a matter of principle if not simply as a matter of financial oversight law.

No one who holds any responsibility in this matter should be permitted to go undetected. As Savage points out it is possible and mandatory that forensic accountants be brought in and look over the books of all the financial institutions involved in order to determine who was acting in good faith and who was cooking the books.

If any are found to have been cooking the books in order to gain personal financial gain then those individuals should have their personal assets and properties seized and the individuals sent on a long vacation at a Federal resort.

I have no doubt that the bailout will in fact take place. Whether or not that bailout will have the desired effect to stabilize and secure the economy of not only the United States but the world economy as well is yet to be seen.

There are some who believe that it would be better to let the entire thing crash and burn and then simply pick up the pieces and start all over. Though that seems to be a little more than extreme to me personally I have to wonder if it isn’t all going to crash and burn anyway.

As Rick Roberts suggested, "who knows if in fact the bailout won’t be the thing which sets up the scenario causing the ultimate collapse." In my view we are in a world of hurt either way. If Congress approves the bailout it will become the problem of the next three generations.

Yet if they do nothing it will be an instant world of hurt for everyone. It just goes to indicate how very fragile the world economy is. So much for globalism. When it goes up it goes up and when it goes down it goes down, but when it crashes it really crashes.

Perhaps the United States Congress might want to rethink the ways in which we conduct business in a global market. Maybe the Fed needs to find a new way to put some sort of circuit breaker in the financial transmission line.

As a final thought, how is it that since this seems to be a worldwide financial crises there does not seem to be any talk about any other governments doing a little bit of anti up bailout debate since they are also benefited by the artificial propping up of the markets?

Snake Oil Sam’s News Beagle?

Sometimes things change and this is one of those times. After giving it a good five minutes of thought I have decided to make a slight change in this blog. Since I tend to do much posting on subjects unrelated to radio talk shows I believe that the title “Radio Review” was somewhat misleading.

Although I liked the sound of that name it didn’t really contribute to the true focus of this blog. Though I shall still find much inspiration for articles posted here on discussions arising on radio talk format, I will at the same time be discussing topical issues in print as well.

Even though the writing perspective will remain true to the Snake Oil Sam brand I don’t want to give any false impression as to what this blog is all about. And that would still be my view of issues in the news and anything else which I feel like blogging about at any time of day or night.

As the great radio commentator Bob Grant recently said, “Bloggers are just about one level above people who write on bathroom walls.” That might or might not be true, still bloggers have the ability to reach a large audience.

The point of this blog is to entertain myself and hopefully at the same time entertain you and just maybe give you something to think about. So with that being said I hope that you enjoy what you read here and feel welcome to visit often.

Did This Blogger Threaten Life of Michael Savage?

A blogger calling himself SkiTheStars has posted a blog comment at his Blog titled Ski The Far Stars. The post which is titled Thrill Michael Savage was originally posted under the url http://farstars.blogspot.com/2008/09/kill-michael-savage.html which seems to reflect the thinking of this particular bloggers views of Michael Savage.

If you click on this link Thrill Michael Savage you will see it in your browser address box on your screen. This individual says this of himself, “I am beset with a brain that comes up with outside-the-box observations, and ideas about improving things, and, if I have a "mission" in life, it is to share these, which typically show up after a good night's sleep.”

I suppose that suggesting that someone kill Michael Savage can be considered thinking “outside-the-box.” I suppose that some individuals might consider the idea of killing Michael Savage “improving things.” And I suppose that suggesting that someone kill Michael Savage would be a “mission” in life that one might want to share with other people of a similar mindset.

The only problem with that is conspiring on the internet to murder someone is a federal crime.

What this individual seems to fail to recognize is that after publishing a post even though you can edit it and change the title or any other portion of the post you can’t change the url address which in this case is the one sited above which clearly refers to the death of Michael Savage.

Yes, it is stated as a question but since the blogger is clearly liberal in viewpoint who describes himself as a person with a “mission” in life, one can reasonably assume that the opinion of this blogger is that someone “should” kill Michael Savage.

The issue is not that he called for such action in the blog. The issue is based on a consideration of all the facts noted above, did this blogger threaten the life and safety of Michael Savage? You decide.

Since it might be deleted by the blogger after this is posted I will simply reproduce the blog post here for posterity.

Watch this show, or read the transcript at the website above. It not that we need to stop them from broadcasting. What we need is to have a population that finds them laughable, and so they are dropped for commercial reasons. The Operation Chaos mindset will be evolved out of the system by 2042, when this stupid business of white supremacy is breed out of the country.

I sincerely hope that these types are fewer and farther between, before we get there, I will be 98 by then.

Savage Says O’Bama Not Fit for Federal Service

According to radio talker Michael Savage, that because of his past associations with at least one avowed member of The Weather Underground, Barack O’Bama could not pass the requirements which one must pass in order to gain security clearance to serve in the Secret Service.

How then, asks Savage, can the man possibly be qualified to hold the highest office in the nation? In addition to the fact that O’Bama has had such associations with such a radical, he has also admitted to having used illicit drugs in the past.

Such admission would clearly disqualify him from serving in the Secret Service or F.B.I. so again Savage asks how is it possible that he can qualify for the highest security clearance levels in government as President.

The answer is simply he can’t. That being the case he is unfit for such a position. The only way that Barack O’Bama has managed to get as far as he has is due to the fact that the left media has brought him along the path by silence and covering up the truth.

Once again Michael Savage is right.

Michael Savage Being Challenged by Audience

Michael Savage has clearly been challenged by at least a segment of his vast audience. This is due to his honest, and in my opinion, misguided position on Sarah Palin. It is apparent that Savage is not happy with the negative reaction to his point of view in light of the fact that those same individuals are usually in step with his viewpoint.

That is not to say that Savage is not man enough to take the criticism, yet he seems to be somewhat dismayed that he is currently so very unpopular with his Savage Nation that he went out of his way to say in a not to subtle way that “He” is “The Savage Nation.”

When someone in support of his viewpoint called him he was so happy that he was prepared to offer the individual a job as a producer. We now know that the best way to get Savage to like you is to simply kiss ass. It’s not that simple a matter Michael. There are far too many issues at play for us to just go along in order to get along.

Dr. Savage still does not seem willing to accept the point that even a bad choice is better than the alternative, an O’bama presidency. Perhaps he does understand but simply doesn’t want to come right out and say it. Savage should be respected for his courage since it is difficult to not go with the crowd.

Even though Savage will likely go with the McCain/Palin ticket when the rubber meets the road, he will do so with much regret as will many others. The only hope that McCain has is that the conservative base will be attracted to Sarah Palin. Don’t expect Puma’s to bring any votes to the table.

If McCain is successful in his Presidential bid he is clearly going to have to make good on any pledge made to that conservative base. The problem with that is that I really have not heard any solid pledge made to that base.

The fact that his choice of Palin as his running mate over others has been met with a good degree of enthusiasm by those on the right side of the right does not in and of itself guarantee that he will actually do anything for them after the fact.

Yet, when people are referring to "Sarah Palin and her running mate" you can be pretty confidant that they are supportive of his choice. McCain surely understands the importance of the conservative base in this election cycle. If Governor Palin does manage to change the vote of a few women, then that is icing on the cake.

McCain must prove himself to the loyal conservative base. He must make his domestic policy of border protection and tax cuts clear. He will need to get that message out over the next few weeks. McCain would be well served to also keep his focus on important issues such as oil, drill here, drill now while creating an agenda of new clean technologies.

Wind, solar, hydro power along with natural gas and especially next generation nuclear power plants which will reduce demand for oil that can then be directed to the transportation market. By giving incentives to the buyers of new hybrids we can get weaned off of Middle Eastern oil.

Michael Savage has to take into consideration that there are far more issues than the one or two that he seems to be focused and stuck on. Michael the next Presidency is that of John McCain and Sarah Palin as his V.P. It’s time to get onboard the train Mike. Choo Choo!

Will Michael Savage Join the Party?

Many have, by his own admission, become somewhat angry and critical of Michael Savage. This unusual anger can be attributed to his position on Grand Old Party V.P. nominee Sarah Palin. But just how far will that anger rise? Savage seems to be doing some damage control.

Clearly any true Savage devote will not allow his current position to upset the apple cart. Still Savage seems to understand his audience better than anyone and recognizes that they can be pushed only so far before they will no longer bend to his point of view.

Even though he does still seem to be able to find much support in his camp he is facing more derision from his family of faithful listeners than he has in the past for any issue other than perhaps the recent autism debate.

It is likely that he will gently back off on his vocal outspokenness directed at Sarah Palin after he has time to hear what she has to say during the next several weeks. She might even begin to appeal to the good doctor. Does that mean he will be ready to join the party? Hardly likely! Savage needs to maintain his independence so as to speak for the many who feel that they no longer have a voice.

Party affiliation for Savage is akin to a lion eating with the elk. Savage in this instance is clearly the lion. The only party that Savage might ever be associated with is a Nationalist Party which he dreams of creating. Even though such a party would likely have little influence in national politics it would never-the-less give a voice to issues now swept under the rug.

Perhaps Dr. Savage will begin to recognize that the things that Palin will fight for will be those same things that Savage himself wants to see restored in America. Things like conservative Christian values. Respect for life and a turning back of liberal courts and liberal judicial rulings.

It is my belief that Savage was far too quick in judging Sarah Palin. You Michael are guilty of the thing which you yourself most despise, the criticizing of someone without giving them a chance to be heard. And that is exactly why so many misjudge you Michael.

Sarah Palin is not only the correct choice for the day but will in fact be the first woman to hold the high office of President of The United States of America in the next term. And then Senator Clinton’s head will explode!

Savage is Wrong on Palin

Considering that Michael Savage is generally correct in his assessment of many subjects and issues it is strange to see that Savage has now fallen down on the job. Being so far from the inside Dr. Savage is often at an advantage. On this issue I believe that he is off base.

The fact is Michael that even if the McCain/Palin ticket is not the best one which might have been available it is in any event far better than anything which the Democrats have to offer.

And the issue is who is going to appoint the next several Supreme Court Justices? Who is going to decide what the policy which will ultimately effect the Stock Markets which drive our economy will be? Who is going to clean up the mess in the Middle East so that we can eventually withdraw with victory?

Those are the things that you need to ask yourself Savage. Your tirades against McCain/Palin are doing nothing but making it more possible for the Democrats to win in November. Is that what you really want? I don’t think so but that will be the result of your current position.

I am looking forward to getting my copy of the new book Psychological Nudity, but I would offer you a title suggestion for your next book. Try this one on for size. How about “The Day I Lost My Mind” by Michael Savage.

Sarah Palin is clearly up to the task and will be able to hold things together in the event that President McCain is unable to perform his duties of office. She is a very intelligent woman and is clearly capable of executive responsibility.

Or of course you can have a president and a vice president who have ZERO experience. Say that out loud Michael. ZERO EXECUTIVE EXPERIENCE! And if you want to talk about the National Energy Crises you had better consider that Sarah Palin is an excellent choice for Veep. Governor of Alaska Mike. Pro drill here, drill now, pay less!

But don’t take my word for it Savage; go see what others have to say. Please allow me to assist you with some research. For one you might want to see what Larry Kudlow has to say. After all Savage there are at least a few other points of view out here.

Right of Anonymity vs. Right of Full Disclosure

Since I have been finding a particular legal notice on a certain community message board of interest as it pertains to issues of law and privacy I find it necessary to do some writing on this important subject.

My first thought was that my original position on the matter was the correct one. Now after doing some more thinking on the matter and looking a little bit more into the subject in an investigatory and fact gathering capacity I find I have to give the issue a bit more thought.

The legal notice I speak of at the message board is one that notifies several board posters that they are the subject of a legal discovery of their true identities based upon something which they apparently posted at that message board.

The matter involved things which were stated about a particular employee of the town of Secaucus, New Jersey. Yet the legal discovery action has, it seems, been brought about by the town government. That might in fact play a role in just how successful or should I better say unsuccessful that town will be in prosecuting the matter in the courts.

I say that basing it upon a statement made in regard to a different but very similar case which is ongoing in New Jersey. I am using some of the comments made in that news story so as to make the point.

I provide the following comment found on NJ.Com Website for a little back story information. That article made some of the following comments which I herein quote.

{Last fall, Manalapan attorneys subpoenaed Google, insisting that the internet company reveal the name and computer behind daTruthSquad's blogging account. A state Superior Court judge eventually quashed the subpoena, calling the request "an unjust infringement on the blogger's First Amendment rights."}

From my perspective it would seem without giving it a great deal of thought that such action would be of no consequence. Continuing with my thought it might not be a simple task for the town of Secaucus to gain the information basing it upon the next paragraph from the story related to Manalapan.

{Lawrence Kleiner, Spodak's attorney, said the new lawsuit has a better chance of succeeding because the former mayor has been out of office for more than two decades and is a private citizen, not a public official. The attorney is seeking subpoenas to require internet service providers to disclose the identities of up to 100 of the former mayor's anonymous critics.} Emphasis Snake Oil Sam

The point here being that since the Secaucus issue is an action apparently being brought by the Town Government rather than the offended employee it might in fact go against the town at the level of a higher court.

I would have to question just why the Town Government is going after these anonymous individuals rather than the town employee on his own behalf. Since it is a matter of record that there is a bit of political bad blood between certain political factions one is forced to wonder if this action has a deeper and yet undisclosed agenda.

But without regard to agenda’s and possible vendettas does a town government especially one with an outstanding track record of political tension, such as Secaucus, have a legal right to expect that a third party can be coerced into providing any private identity information?

Of course you would suspect that when something which involves privacy issue arises there might be groups who would stand up in the face of governmental action. Such is the case with the Manalapan issue.

{The case has, once again, attracted the attention of national First Amendment groups. The Electronic Frontier Foundation, a California nonprofit group that helped defend daTruthSquad in the previous lawsuit, said it will continue to work to keep the blogger's identity secret.}

Although this particular instance involves the blogging community, for point of discussion there is really little distinction between bloggers and some who might choose for whatever the reason to make those comments on a community related message board.

I would have to believe that the laws which affect one affect the other as well. Since there is a great deal of issues to consider as we delve into the field of unintended consequences we need to be mindful of more than the simple issues of slander and libel.

There are many things about which to be concerned in this matter. One of those which got my attention while researching the Manalapan story was a quote by Matt Zimmerman who is associated with the Electronic Frontier Foundation.

{"You have the constitutional right to speak anonymously," said Matt Zimmerman, an Electronic Frontier Foundation staff attorney. "You can't use the court as an investigatory tool simply to out critics."}

But even in light of such lucid comments I find it difficult to fully accept that you can simply make comments of an offensive nature such as the things apparently said about the former Mayor of Manalapan.

But again I could be wrong and I am certainly not the final authority on such law. I am just one humble writer and critic attempting to offer an opinion without sounding like the ultimate arbiter of journalistic prudence.

Perhaps the Town of Secaucus will find that it is not worth the money of the good taxpaying citizens to proceed with this matter in light of the fact that the Manalapan issue has already set some degree of precedent.

In addition, armed with the knowledge that an organization such as Electronic Frontier Foundation might step in and pick up the cudgel on behalf of the now anonymous posters it might give the town fathers some reason for concern and perhaps consider letting the offended party deal with the matter individually.

After all since the alleged remarks were made about a private individual, who just happens in this case to work for the town, what business is it of town government to step in and authorize the spending of town money and time seeking to find information which very well might lead to a long and expensive lawsuit.

This sounds much more like some sort of political maneuvering than it does concern over the reputation of a private individual. In any event there are far deeper issues here than any which I would have even considered without giving it a goodly degree of thought.

I sincerely hope that those of you reading this also find it beneficial to consider this most important issue as the right to speak freely affects us all.

The Great Mouse Adventure

This day started with much excitement at the Sam house. Suddenly out of the solitude of a restful nights sleep old Snake was awakened with the panicked cry of Mrs. Sam. “Snake Oil,” “a mouse, there is a mouse in the bathroom.” My first reaction was to turn over and go back to sleep.

Unfortunately the Mrs. would have none of that. She was, as a matter of fact quite adamant that I take immediate action. Knowing that I didn’t have a hope of just going back to sleep I diligently did my husbandly duty, got up and put on a pair of pants.

I have often wondered why it is referred to as a pair of pants when it is only one. But let me not digress less I detract from the story. Arriving at the place of confrontation I found that Mrs. Sam had covertly placed a towel which she had grabbed before making her hasty retreat, at the bottom of the door.

It was unclear whether she had done so as a matter of trapping the little varmint in the bathroom or as an instinctual action encoded into the genome of women as a matter of self preservation. But putting aside such matters I carefully open the door to see if in fact the mouse was still in sight.

Sure enough there it was. It seemed that it was standing its ground simply trying to asses the situation that it was now in. Not wanting to let it escape into the greater region of the house I closed the door while trying to formulate a battle plan.

Mrs. Sam strongly suggested that I take a broom and beat it to death. But being the kind of guy who never likes to kill without good reason I decided that it would be a better idea to capture the little critter and release it to the wilderness.

Searching the house for some sort of implement which I might use in order to capture the little beast I spied out a little wooden bowl which seems just right for the task at hand. I remembered a time as a young lad when such an event took place at mothers’ house. Being a youth I didn’t know what to do but my older brother taught me the ways of the hunter that night.

The lesson had not been lost on little Sam.

Returning to the site of the hunt I instructed Mrs. Sam to step aside so that I might confront the wily beast. She pleaded with me to put on a pair of shoes so that I might not be bitten. But I had a task ahead and did not feel it necessary to protect the exposed area. After all it was just a mouse I argued.

When I started the hunt I soon discovered that a mouse is faster than an old man as it countered my every move. But I would not be outwitted by a mouse. Being so small it used its size to advantage running behind the toilet where it was difficult to trap. I continued to chase it into open territory. But due to its speed it continued to defy my efforts.

Mrs. Sam called from beyond the door asking how the hunt was going. I responded that I had my prey in sight and was closing the circle. I was assisted by the fact that the floor surface is very shinny and therefore very slippery. Yes, the mouse had traction problems.

I used that to my advantage. After attempting to drop a small old hand towel on top of it in order to blind it I realized that would not work as the mouse simply ran out from underneath.

Taking the small wooden bowel that I had brought for the job I attempted to simply place it over the mouse. But it kept eluding the bowel with its instinctual survival effort. Frustrated I picked up yet another implement in my war arsenal.

I now held the toilet scrub brush in my right hand and the wooden bowel in my left. Waiting for the right moment, the mouse made yet one more attempt to elude me. I saw an opening and swung the brush at the mouse capturing it by the tail.

“Yes!” I had my prey. Placing the bowel over the little fella’ I told my wife to get me something flat that I might slide under the bowel so I to seal the fate of the now captured mouse.

Soon she returned with a flattened cardboard Eggo’ box. “Perfect” I declared. She then quickly exited the room in the event that the mouse might escape during the delicate operation of cardboard insertion.

But since all went well with that aspect the operation I now was prepared to vacate the mouse from my home to the nearby woods. Hopefully the mouse will not dare to return remembering that this house is occupied by a defender of the castle.

Has Michael Savage Been Muzzled?

After listening to Michael Savage for that past two days I have to wonder if something transpired during his recent discussions with his syndication network which has put a lid on his trademark temper. I hope that is not the case but it seems that Savage is holding back.

He did a program with little passion and then attributed it to a nasal inhaler? Come on Mike it would take a shot from an elephant gun to bring you down!

I for one sincerely hope that the people who control the on/off switch on the broadcast microphone have not been so intimidated that they are going to place any sort of restraints on the power of the Savage Nation to broadcast truth.

Yesterday while reading the description of a brutal rape/murder of a couple young girls Savage was brought nearly to tears. He was unable to read the entire transcript. He held back his rage; a rage which I might add is justifiable.

Savage should not have held back that rage. After all, he is the lone voice in the wilderness which says what we all collectively think. Dr. Savage if I might offer you a small bit of advice, don’t change your outspoken ways. If you don’t say it who will? No one ever said that the ride of Paul Revere was an easy one.

Michael Savage Gives Autism Airtime

As a result of the recent autism controversy Michael Savage has begun to air a radio spot dealing with the issue of autism. Apparently it is a decision made by the syndicators of the Savage Nation.

Savage himself made no comment on the spot and seems to be letting it go by as just yet one more commercial. Clearly the group is interested in getting out facts about autism and forming a source of shared information.

If the commercial sponsorship of the network helps in this cause then perhaps Savage has done a good thing in bringing this issue to the forefront of media. But what Dr. Savage said about the issue of big pharma should not be allowed to slip out of sight. That also is an important issue. One which Savage was attempting to raise and which Savage claims was blown out of proportion by Media Matters when this controversy began.

Michael Savage to Play Hardball with Media Matters

After having become a political target of Media Matters for America, an organization which Hillary Clinton claims to be responsible for starting, the nationally syndicated radio talk show host Michael Savage recently stated on air that he intends to bring legal action against that organization.

According to Savage, “I am in communication with a congressman” the identity of whom Savage failed disclose. According to Savage Media Matters is guilty of violations of the RICO Act.

Though he was unclear as to exactly what sort of criminal conspiracy Media Matters is guilty of Savage apparently believes that he can make a good case against Media Matters. Dr. Savage has already called upon his audience to seek the 501(C)(3) report that the tax exempt organization is legally required to provide to anyone asking for it.

That act alone can cause a rather sizeable headache for Media Matters. But that is the least of their problems in my view. If in fact Savage does carry out his threat to bring a suit against Media Matters it could prove troublesome for them as they will have to go through what could possibly prove to be an extensive and exhaustive discovery process.

I believe that Media Matters has walked onto very thin ice which is exactly where Savage wants them. However Savage himself might be treading on thin ice when he asks his audience to contribute to his legal defense fund in his fight against CAIR and Media Matters since it might be a conflict of some statute to commingle funds for a fight against CAIR and his fight against Media Matters.

He might very well have to create two separate accounts which would require that the donor earmark the donation for a specific account. Perhaps it might serve Savage well if he were to simply create some sort of single Michael Savage Fund for American Justice which would be legally dedicated to his overall fight for the defense of Constitutional Rights.

Certainly not being a lawyer I have no expertise in such matters but if there is any possibility that Michael Savage might give his enemies an opportunity to attack him with some legal angle he might want to give serious consideration to this aspect of his funding.

Savage recently had his case against CAIR thrown out of court for all intents and purposes. He was expecting nothing less and is prepared to take it all the way the United Sates Supreme Court.

Savage will not be denied his day in court. But judging by the recent actions of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, it is questionable if there are enough teeth left in our Constitution to even have a positive outcome.

When the Constitution is treated as nothing more than toilet paper by individuals such as Pelosi then one must consider that America is already dead and no one has yet to notice the stench of America’s death.

Michael Savage Takes On Media Matters

Claiming that Media Matters for America is guilty of improper use of a not for profit 501(C)(3) tax exemption due to politically motivated actions against the nationally syndicated radio talk show host, Michael Savage has stated that he will sue what he calls a front group for the Democratic party.

Savage states that he is going to turn the Media Matters attack of Michael Savage against them. He asks his audience to contact them and request a copy of their financial statement. If his vast audience carries out his call to war such a thing might prove costly for Media Matters.

Savage also questions how the executives at Media Matters can be earning such large salaries if it is indeed a not for profit group. The ball is now being returned to the court of the opponents of Michael Savage.

What will the next move of Media Matters be? Your guess is as good as mine. But if I had to put down money I would put mine on Savage by a nose. Speaking of Money, Savage needs your help!

Michael Savage Called a “Pig” by Geraldo Rivera!

During the 11:00 a.m. hour of the July 26, 2008 Larry Kudlow show aired weekly on New York Radio giant 770 W.A.B.C. Michael Savage was called a “pig” by Geraldo Rivera. Rivera had been filling in for Kudlow when he made the comment. Due to his view of how Savage hurt the families of people with autism Rivera considers the comments made by Savage to be unacceptable.

Rivera a nationally recognized news correspondent and a journalist went on to say that he considers what Media Matters has been doing in attacking Savage as a proper response to the on air comments of Michael Savage.

During the first segment of the hour Rivera fielded a few calls but seems to have cut the calls a little short, perhaps because each call was in support of Dr. Savage. But for what ever the reason, time constraints notwithstanding Mr. Rivera remained rigid in opposition to the words of Savage.

The few callers which were given the opportunity to speak to the issue spoke along the lines of the following:

Caller Mike: Identifying himself as a special education teacher agrees that most of the kids that he has worked with who are diagnosed as autistic are not. The caller supports the position of Savage. Strangely even though the caller supports Savage, Rivera seemed to have little to say in defense of his own “pig” comment.

Caller Tom: When speaking to the issue the caller stated that he supported the Savage position. Again Rivera doesn’t seem to believe that people could be speaking out in support of Savage.

Caller Vincent: Takes great offense at the comments made in derision of Michael Savage.

It seems that Michael Savage has loyal listeners who are always ready and able to come to his defense. This man just might have the most loyal listenership in talk radio.

Sadly it sounded to me that Geraldo Rivera a man who I have admired over the years, must be counted among those who have made up their mind on the issue without giving fair and balanced consideration to both sides of the issue.

Whether his position is due to the reporting of Media Matters for America or is based upon his own bias towards Savage, I find it insulting to his audience and especially to Mr. Kudlow to air such negative views of a fellow radio personality on the program of another person.

If Geraldo Rivera wanted to make such strong statements, which is absolutely his right to do, he should have done so in his own venue. Geraldo overstepped the bounds of propriety in abusing the airwaves on loan from another talk show host.

I believe that all parties would be well served if Geraldo Rivera were to speak directly to Michael Savage on air after having first listened to the last few broadcasts of Michael Savage in which Savage clarified his earlier comments regarding his opinion on the majority of people diagnosed with autism.

The issue as pointed out by Dr. Savage is of such importance that it should not be reduced to an issue of name calling. Considering that Geraldo Rivera made his mark by his expose’ of the Willowbrook State School, on Staten Island, New York in the 1970’s one might think that he would want to join forces with Dr. Savage in exposing what might possibly be one of the largest scandals in modern American medical history.

You can bet that anyone who has a vested interest in this story including as I stated in a past article, Big Pharma, some segments of the medical community, certain segments of the educational establishment and others would surely want to put the lid on this story.

I believe that the trade term for such an agenda is “Spike the story.” For that reason alone a newsman with the reputation of Geraldo Rivera should want to get his teeth into the story of how Big Pharma is manipulating the medical diagnosis of children for purely financial reasons.

That is precisely what Savage had been attempting to do in his failed attempt to make a point. Sadly due to a lapse in word craftsmanship mixed with a good dose of passion Dr. Savage dropped the ball. If Savage owes any form of apology to anyone he owes it to his syndication network for a brief lapse of professionalism.

Strangely, Geraldo Rivera played a large role in the closing of Willowbrook, the conditions of which he himself described as horrific. At the same time Savage states that his severely retarded brother was placed in a place that he can only refer to as a “hell hole.”

Could it be that these two men’s lives have in some strange way crossed paths in a way that demands that these same two men stand together as one in an effort to protect children from harm?

I say to Geraldo Rivera you need to get all the facts before you call Michael Savage a pig. As a professional you owe that much to your audience. And Michael Savage owes it to his audience to invite Rivera onto his program in an open dialogue that will possibly result in a healing of something which has been blown way out of proportion by the detractors of Michael Savage.

Michael Savage Autism Debate Continues

Apparently the syndicators of the Savage Nation and Michael Savage have been in serious discussion regarding the recent issue of autism and the meaning behind what Savage said. After all related issues were considered it has been concluded that the only thing which Savage might be guilty of is a failure to make his intended statement about autism and how it is being enlarged into the “autism spectrum” more clear.

But when taking into consideration that Savage always speaks extemporaneously, it is difficult to imagine that he or any other person will not sometimes say things which can be misunderstood by his vast audience.

Adding to that is the possibility that he has political enemies who look for any possible opportunity to gain an upper hand by taking things out of context and twisting them. I have to admit that I myself after hearing his comments was left somewhat annoyed by what he seemed to be saying.

In all fairness Michael Savage as any other person has the right to explain himself. Savage has the right to clarify those statements, and any reasonable person should be willing to listen and give due consideration to that explanation. Clearly Savage has made that defense of his position and when heard in the proper context the explanation is both reasonable and satisfactory.

Of course the enemies of Savage, the enemies of truth will find no explanation either reasonable or satisfactory. For those individuals with an agenda it is not possible to make explanation. Indeed those individuals have set about to destroy Savage. But will that happen to Savage? As an old man once said to me about pigs flying, “that ain’t going to happen any time soon.”

So since the syndicator will now provide, as a mea culpa in my opinion free P.S.A’s about autism, the opening has been made for much more discussion on this topic. Clearly those afflicted with autism deserve both the loving concern of the public as well as their support.

But the issue that Michael Savage has begun should not be permitted to be swept under the rug because it is too controversial. Savage should not be kept from speaking on this subject. Though it is good to have a dialogue about the seriousness of this ailment, it should at the same time become a discussion of what is and what is not true autism.

As Barbara Anderson said to me in correspondence “Since nobody has a definitive answer as to the cause of autism, I think it is good to have a forum on it where we can all share opinions and even anecdotal evidence.”

I would agree with that thought and hope that by the actions of Dr. Savage some good will come out of this debate. Those with autism, the true autism deserve the help of society in solving the mysteries of autism.

Michael Savage Takes on Big Pharma

In what possibly began as a vendetta against syndicated radio talk show host Michael Savage by Media Matters might be found the seeds of a call to governmental officials to gain control over the actions of big pharma.

According to Savage the multi billion dollar pharmaceutical industry working in conjunction with the medical industry is responsible for the extreme increase in the diagnosis of autism. Savage is supported in his views by many listeners. He is supported as well by a physiatrist.

Dr. Peter Breggin, an expert in the field has much to say in agreement with Dr. Savage Ph. D, author of several books on nutrition and child welfare. Breggin not only supported the view of Savage that much potential harm is being perpetrated by the medical community but amplified that viewpoint.

It appears that this issue is going to take on a life of its own now that Savage has opened the door to this growing controversy. Of course since the old media is owned by the merchants of media manipulation don’t expect to see much fair and balanced reporting of this story.

Unless the blogging community takes up the truncheon and is able to work with Savage in conjunction with this important issue it will be faded to the short memory of the average American.

It is clear that Dr. Savage in his capacity of radio host has done well in defending his position which Media Matters appears to have attempted to twist to their advantage. In doing so he has created a new issue looming on the horizon of the health care industry.

Educators as well, according to Savage play a large roll in this issue as they also have used the autism diagnosis brand to impact the behavior of a growing segment of the student body. As Savage points out schools stand to benefit financially by having students certified as being in the growing autism spectrum.

This shall prove to be an interesting issue to follow. The one question which I have, as I am sure many others do as well is, does Michael Savage have the stamina to fight the fine fight.

Michael Savage on Autism

Recently, Syndicated Radio Talk Show host Michael Savage made some comments on the issue of autism and it’s over diagnosis by the medical community as well as those not qualified to make such diagnosis.

Those comments seem to have created a small firestorm of controversy which Savage attributes to his enemies at Media Matters. Is the criticism of Savage well founded? Savage himself says no!

So outraged was Savage by the reaction that he has received that he dedicated an entire program to the subject. In that program he defended himself stating that what he said was taken out of context.

It is true that Savage has defended those who are unable to defend themselves. He in fact had a brother who was severely handicapped never uttering a spoken word in his life. Savage has also spoken out against Howard Stern in the past because of the way Stern uses handicapped people to simply get a laugh.

Looking back to the original program in which Savage spoke about the issue of autism Savage clearly spoke about the over diagnosis of autism and how people were using it as a means to gaining funding from the public trough.

That is as I understood his original comments as I listened to that program. Yet thinking back I do seem to recall Savage in his zeal stating that [there is no such think as autism.] I remember it since I have a dearly loved nephew who is autistic.

My thought at that time was well Michael if there is no such thing as autism then what is wrong with my nephew? That is why I find some of the defense of his position indefensible.

Dr. Savage I believe that you need to go back to the comments which started this firestorm and relive the moment. If indeed you did make the statement which I believe that you made then even though you are clearly not the monster that Media Matters would make you out to be you might just owe all of us a small and humble apology.

Clearly Michael Savage spends countless hours in front of the microphone and in that time it is possible for anyone to make a statement that is not quite on target. Savage now states his position so that the record is straight. Now Savage must simply to put all cards on the table for the sake of his loyal listeners. Please Michael, get everything out in the open.

If in fact you did overreach your viewpoint in the original comments then just state that you in your sometimes bellicose style got a little carried away by pure emotion. We love you Savage and we will understand. After all your confrontational manner is what makes you the great host you truly are.

We Can’t Hear You Mr. President!

Among the many diverse residents of the community I reside in is a man who is very dedicated not only to his community, but to his country. He and his wife have three very fine children one of whom is a graduate of The Military Academy at West Point. Yes she is a commissioned officer in the United States Army.

Over the years of association with the Chierichella family I have had the privilege of watching Marissa grow from a happy little girl into a fine young woman. The fact that she is in the service to the nation in the uniform of an army officer is simply icing on the cake. The entire community is proud of this woman and the fact she is in service to others who yearn for democracy and freedom.

There are many things which I can say about the Chierichella family however I will focus at this time on one particular story. It should not surprise me, since he is so vocal, but a thing which most impresses me about the man Rocco Chierichella is that he is in my humble opinion responsible for the re-election of George W. Bush to the Presidency.

Now you might find that a little difficult to believe but I submit to you that it is the truth. Allow me to explain. Rocco is a former firefighter F.D.N.Y. who immediately responded to the rescue effort at Ground Zero on the tragic day of September 11, 2001.

Understanding that his brother firefighters needed all the help that they could get Rocco left the comfort and safety of his home in order to assist in the heroic actions then taking place that day. While others were running away from the disaster site Rocco was running toward it. This is a typical response for this man and should not surprise anyone.

But what did catch me off guard was when several days later Rocco who was then working what was clearly more a recovery effort than a rescue effort became a part of a story which would later shape the opinion of the American people and a portion of American history.

The way in which this came about was when the President visited the site of violent destruction launched against America by her enemies. Showing just how sincere the visit was by President Bush, Rocco relates that after his arrival at Ground Zero in New York City the President walked right by a group of awaiting government officials and into a crowd of rescue workers including Rocco.

On the day in which our President climbed atop a large pile of what had previously been a part of the now terrorist destroyed World Trade Center, he began to speak to a crowd of about a thousand rescue volunteers. The President spoke with the aide of a small battery operated megaphone.

The crowd was so large that it was difficult for all to hear what the President was saying. As Rocco is a man who is not afraid to speak up he called out “Louder.” Soon thereafter Rocco again spoke out uttering the words which would prove to make President Bush a national icon. Yes those now famous words “We still can’t hear you Mr. President” resulted in the line from George W. Bush “Well I can hear you, and the rest of the world is going to hear from all of us real soon.”

I shall have other things to say on this issue in days ahead.

Apparently the U.S. Army has developed and successfully test fired a weapon designed to reduce the feline population. It has been reported that an experimental weapon had misfired at the Picatinny test range.

Why the U.S. Army would test fire a weapon in a fairly densely populated area of New Jersey is unclear however the military has a track record of screw ups in New Jersey. This past summer the military managed to start a forest fire which burned a considerable portion of the Pine lands.

Sometime before that an F-16 operated by the New Jersey National Guard managed to blast a few large caliber holes in the roof of an elementary school. Need I say Barney Fife? Sorry Andy, it won’t happen again.

But getting back to the little pussy it is fortunate that the ten year old girl who slept in the bed taken out by the anti pussy weapon was away at a slumber party. It is sad that she had to be told that her little kitten was sleeping with the fishes.

It is expected that the test range will do a safety check so as to not upset the residents of Jefferson Township in the future. It is also reported that Hilary Clinton has canceled her trip to Jefferson Township due to sniper fire.

Hackensack Roller Rink Demolished

One of my childhood memories was skating at the roller rink at the corner of Atlantic and First in the city of Hackensack, New Jersey. It might not have been the most ornate of rinks as roller skating rinks go, but it was a pretty good place to spend the evening.

Not that I was in any way an exceptional skater, I was just a kid having fun. The reason I was there was that my mother, who at one time skated in competition, was the organist, or at least one of several at the rink. That was cool because I got to go up by the organ and look out over the skaters as my mother played waltzes and other selections of the day.

That was long before rinks went all disco. So why am I thinking about this time of life. Well, last night I drove past the old rink and I noticed something out of place. It was soon enough apparent what was amiss. The rink was gone. It hadn’t been a roller skating rink for many years and had last I believe been home to some import export company.

Apparently it has become the latest victim of the ever expanding Hackensack University Medical Center. It was clear that it has been in the gun sites of the Medical Center which has bought all the land in the area as much as it is able to acquire.

I expect that it won’t be long before the continuing expansion reaches the Bergen County Court House at which time they might face a small degree of opposition to any further expansion. But for now if you Google a map of Hackensack you might want to update the Medical Center grid outline a little further North and South.

As I begin my day reading the blog of Dawn Eden who often gives me pause to think of issues from a different perspective, today she provides a quote of Mike Mason which resulted in this post of mine.

The biblical ideal of marriage cannot help but stand in judgment over contemporary society, laying wide open the sin and corruption of hearts, making woefully obvious the poverty of true intimacy in the world."

As marriage is so sacred a thing, does it not then make sense that Satan would then use sexual infidelity and all forms of sexual perversions to induce mankind to turn away from Gods perfect standards?

What sort of person who was married would wish to abort an otherwise healthy child born into marriage? Yet it is not only conceivable but expected that a society that would reject Gods standards of marriage would also reject the blessing of a union between one man and one woman, a child.

Even a candidate for the high office of the President of the United States of America referred to a child born out of wedlock as a punishment. “I am going to teach them first of all about values and morals. But if they make a mistake, I don’t want them punished with a baby,”

Apparently there is some life that is viewed as sacred and protected under law. How can that be you ask? Isn’t it legal in all fifty states of the union to terminate developing life? Yes it is I say. Then how, you ask is life protected? Let me explain.

While reading an article about the problems caused by Canada Geese which have taken up residence in Northern New Jersey parks I learned something interesting which in due course led to this posting.

It seems that in order to stop an egg from hatching you can rub the egg with vegetable oil. The term is addling the egg. It prevents the air sac from forming within the egg by cutting off air to the inside of the egg.

If the egg floats the sac has already been pretty well formed according to this article. And once the air sack has been formed it by law cannot be addled.

I find it reassuring that men are concerned with geese to the point that they would pass laws protecting goose eggs. Perhaps someday they will get around to protecting human life as well.

After all since God made geese and made man you would think that his standards would apply to all developing life on an equal basis. But for now bird life it would seem is of more value than human life.

Hello, is anyone out there? Kirk to Spock, come in Spoke. Beam me up Scotty!

Greenpoint Brooklyn

Sometimes I manage to find something on a blog which catches my interest and this entry is one of those “something’s”. I don’t know why it was of interest but I found it worth reproducing here. What the author writes about the places we remember from the old days disappearing or changing use it so very true.

It is always interesting to see old buildings that were once used as something else and see how they are used today. I think of two examples, one of which is a very old building in historic Milford Pennsylvania. It is located in the middle of town and is a beautiful structure. It dates back to, I believe the mid nineteenth century.

An ancestor, a relative of my mothers’ family visited Milford sometime in the early nineteen hundreds. The relative mailed home a postcard that featured that building. It shows what the town looked like then with the road being dirt.

Today that building serves as home of a number of touristy shops but it is very much the same on the outside. The main difference is that you can see how the street, when still dirt, was higher than today. It even has a clock tower of sorts and makes me think of how they featured the clock tower in the trilogy “Back to the Future”.

The street elevation back then would explain the rather odd configuration of the steps down to the current street elevation at that corner. Apparently someone decided that the street needed to be lowered and leveled at that intersection when the street was paved.

Today the local business improvement authority is in the process of putting old style street lighting in the shopping district of Milford. It really is nice that people try as best they are able to preserve some of the old. It is sad to see some older structures torn down to make way for the new.

The other building which I mentioned of note, at least to me, is a place in Paramus, New Jersey. That area is home to many stores and shopping malls. Right outside of the Paramus Park Mall is an old building which is now home to one of a chain of discount furniture stores, Bobs' Disount.

But during my childhood it was known as the Paramus roller skating rink where my grandmother and my mother were the organists. I spent many a happy hour racing around that rink. Of course the guard, who was a longtime friend of the family and someone who at one time was on the same skating team as my mother, would look the other way while I broke a few of the rules.

In any event, here is the blog article about Greenpoint which I reproduce sans permission. So after you read this go there and peruse the blog of Linacassius’s Weblog. I hope that you find something which interests you there.

When I first moved to Greenpoint, the northernmost neighborhood of Brooklyn, in 2004, one of my first frustrations with my new neighborhood was that there weren't any movie theaters nearby. In this age of video rentals and Netflix, when you can have a steady stream of DVDs flowing in and out of your mailbox, as well as your DVD player, you might not think that a paucity of movie theaters within easy walking distance would be a problem. Yet it is. Especially because Greenpoint was once the proud home of six movie theaters.
Six movie theaters! In less than two square miles. Some of the structures have been torn down and replaced with other buildings. Others have been refurbished and put to other uses that still allow visitors to detect some of the original features.
Drawing on a variety of sources, here's what I've been able to learn about the long-gone movie theaters of Greenpoint. I've organized this as a walking tour of sorts, but you don't need to explore them in this order. If you're interested in following the easy-to-follow route I've mapped out, start at the Nassau Avenue subway stop on the G line.
Our first stop is a few shops east of Manhattan Avenue on the south side of Nassau Avenue. Pass two bodegas and the pizzeria, and take in what is now Princess Manor.
Nassau Theatre
88 Nassau Ave.
Screens: 1
Seats: 599
A movie theater operated here between about 1910 and 1953. It is now a catering hall.
The next stop is a little out of the way, so you might want to skip it or save it for when you have more time. Regardless, if you continue walking east on Nassau Avenue, you'll eventually reach Russell Street and McGolrick Park (formerly Winthrop Park). The park is worth some exploration in its own right because of the pavilion designed by Helmle and Huberty, a World War I memorial, and the Monitor and the Merrimac sculpture. Across from the southwestern corner of the park is a Met supermarket. It wasn't always a grocery store.
Winthrop Theater

Seats: 580
Between 1922 and 1959, this movie theater showed late-run movies. It featured a Wurlitzer organ Opus 599 Style 135A. In 1961, the theater became a grocery store.
Now, head back to Manhattan Avenue by heading west on Driggs. Once you reach Manhattan, take a right and walk north along the west side of the street. The rest of our stops all line Greenpoint's main drag, Manhattan Avenue.
Meserole Theatre

Seats: 1,200
Luckily, this theater still remains in some shape and form. Despite a conversion into a roller skating rink and then its current incarnation as an Eckerd drug store, you can still see elements of the original auditorium from a vantage point in the back of the store. Behind the cosmetics counter, you can see the outline of the original screen on which they now project slides about sales, and the ceiling still supports a mirrored disco ball from when it was a roller rink. The pharmacy is located beneath what was once the balcony. While promoting the Batman movie in the mid-'60s, Adam West and Burt Ward made an appearance at the theater with the Batmobile.

RKO Greenpoint

Opening as a vaudeville theater in 1908, the Greenpoint became a full-time movie theater around 1925 and may have been the grandest of Greenpoint's theaters. In direct competition with the Meserole, the theater featured an ornate auditorium featuring ceiling murals and a proscenium arch. Three levels of boxed seats were located on either side of the stage, and there were two balconies. When RKO acquired the theater, it showed first-run double features. Music was performed on a Wurlitzer organ Opus 1113 Style E. In 1961, Jerry Lewis appeared at the theater to promote his new movie “The Ladies Man.” The building has since been demolished.

American Theater

Other names: Chopin Theater
For most of its life, this theater showed second-run movies. Advertised as a twin theater, the American had only one screen. The house charged different admissions for each film, and the staff would clear the theater of viewers between each screening. One former resident remembers the theater being replaced by a Polish theater that continued to screen movies into the '80s. The layout of the building is somewhat confusing. There were two entrances, one on Manhattan Avenue and one on the Greenpoint Avenue. There was also a billiards hall — and later, a bingo hall — located upstairs, and until earlier this year, a Burger King filled the old lobby area. Now Quest Diagnostics takes up the ground floor, and Club Exit, a dance club, takes up much of the old bingo hall space. Be sure to look for the sculpted Eagle perched at the peak of the building's roof on the Manhattan Avenue side.

Midway Theater

Seats: 598
Other names: Manhattan Theatre
Located between Freeman and Eagle streets, this movie theater was active at least between 1938 and 1954. Even though the closest movie theater, the Loews Kips Bay — as the crow flies — is across the East River, the ghosts of Greenpoint's cinematic past linger on and can still be seen every day.

Lackawaxen Honors Fallen Marine

Jacob Beisel was honored by the Lackawaxen Township Board of Supervisors and his family when that governing municipal authority approved a request made by the Beisel family to rename Beisel/Beck Road in memory of that community’s fallen son.

Twenty one year old Lance Cpl. Jacob Beisel was Killed In Action at Al Anbar Province, Iraq, on March 31, 2007.

Abortion and the Right to Choose

People in The United States of America have for many years discussed and debated the subject of abortion. Without getting to deeply into my own belief I would like to offer some thoughts and the writings of another blogger, someone far more intelligent and talented than myself. Her name is Dawn Eden and she is, among other things, a writer, a prolific blogger and an individual highly involved in her personal life in the pro-life movement.

My first thought is that it seems strange to even have to suggest or state that anyone is or needs to be involved in any form of pro-life movement. By doing so it would seem that by the rules of Yin and Yang there would need in balance to be a pro death movement. This raises the question what sort of individual would be pro death?

If such an individual who is truly pro death can be found why then wouldn’t such a person take their individual belief to the ultimate conclusion and simply bring about there own death rather than seek the death of innocents? Of course in reality such individuals hide under the banner of pro-choice.

Of course not all who are pro-choice are truly pro death. But is that true of the leadership of the “pro-choice” movement? By reading some of the writing of Ms. Eden, whose blog I might add utilizes the many excellent links to the writings of others in making her point; and in following her links to others it soon becomes clear that the pro-choice movement or at least some segments of it have a more sinister agenda.

One thought about the average individual is that as such they have been misguided by a society which is so self centered that it has turned its collective back on God. In addition a lack of education in the subject and a lack of concern for the sanctity of all human life surely must play a part in this matter.

As I write this article I can’t help but think back on a small portion of a conversation I heard recently while entering an abortion clinic in Englewood, New Jersey. Yes, that might sound strange that I would enter an abortion clinic. As a simple explanation it is a part of my job with Quest Diagnostics.

It is something which I have to admit that I do under duress as the management team requires that I perform my job function without regard to the type of medical procedure being performed. It matters little whether that medical facility save life or destroy it the bottom line is the bottom line. Remember, “Integrity” is everything in my job. Not my integrity but that of the company. So I say, Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it’s off to work we go!

I suppose that the argument can be made that a medical service is being provided to the formerly pregnant female by doing a biopsy on the murder victim. I imagine that something might be found in the specimen which would indicate that the formerly pregnant female might have some sort of medical condition which should be followed up for the health of the formerly pregnant female specimen donor.

If for no other reason it pays the light bill, not to mention my paycheck. So, I guess that in a small way I am guilty of supporting such a thing as murder for hire. As stated I do so only under duress. But since the majority of what I and Quest Diagnostics does is in advance of health I guess that an argument can be made overall in defense of the diagnostic industry.

And I might add as a self defense if one is needed or even permissible in the eyes of God it would be that I only collect a small amount of murder victims and another laboratory, Bio Reference gets the bulk of the murder victims. They haul out a cardboard box containing about thirty or forty murder victims everyday as far as I can see.

Getting back to that conversation which I heard upon entering the aforementioned Englewood abortion clinic I was fascinated by the conversation between two individuals which seemed, judging by their ages to be a mother and a father of a young girl inside having the abortion performed upon her.

The woman speaking to the man said in a tone of guilt ridden reassurance that “children” make mistakes. She continued by stating that this is how they “learn” from their mistakes. The man responded in a somewhat hesitant and not guilty reassurance that he had made the right choice “that’s right, that’s right!”

If I can find one positive thing about that fact that a child’s mother and another child’s father were there to even have such a discussion it is the simple fact that in most of the instances the only person waiting for the formerly pregnant female is the boyfriend, allegedly the sperm donor, or in many cases a caring girlfriend.

As an observation the majority of the people I observe waiting are of an African-American of Hispanic descent. That might simply reflect the ethnic and racial make-up of the area. But as pointed out on Dawn’s blog it also might be a reflection of the target audience of the medical service.

Clearly all races and ethnicities are regularly represented at some abortion clinic in America. It is not something unique to one group. It is an issue related to modern social values as a whole.

The discussions and debates will clearly continue. I don’t suspect that anything of a political nature will ever change it. The only thing which will ever prevent an abortion is a change of heart of the individual.

As for the view expressed by the mother mentioned above and endorsed by the father all that I can say is that the way children should learn is by education and good solid family values. Teaching children the facts of life and keeping lines of communication open within the family unit can go a long way in preventing the perceived necessity of abortion.

At one time some years ago while working for a former diagnostic laboratory, SmithKline Beecham, while in the process of retrieving several murder victims from an abortion clinic in Fort Lee, New Jersey I made an observation. The abortion clinic would at times wrap the container which contained the murder victims in tin foil.

This was a disappointment to me as I was often fascinated to view the beauty of the tiny face, hands, fingers, feet and toes of the murder victim in an unwrapped specimen container. If you really want to know with all confidence that a fetus is life I would encourage you to look at the face the eyes, ears, nose and mouth of a fetus.

I assure you that if you ever have the opportunity to do so you will see the unborn face of Mary’s child, The Christ. You have a right to choose. Choose Life. In regard to the fetus wrapped in tin foil I once composed a little poem for that little innocent.

You might have been a happy little boy.
You might have been a pretty little goil.
But now you are just a medical specimen.
Wrapped in tin foil.

G.P.S. Theft Ring Smashed

The Record of Bergen County published a front page, above the fold, story about the arrest of four teens that apparently are responsible for the rash of thefts of expensive G.P.S. devices from cars parked, mainly at shopping malls in and around Bergen and Hudson Counties of New Jersey.

North Bergen (Hudson County) police made the arrest which led to the charges being filed last weekend according to The Record. The devices many of which are valued at about six to seven hundred dollars were being resold for a fraction of that price.

It would seem to me that if this industry wants to improve the security of these devices all that it would require would be a chip which would not only read where the vehicle was located but where the device itself was located when turned on. Then if reported stolen the police could be directed to that location.

Perhaps the device does not have the ability to read the precise location but even if it added a few dollars to the initial cost of the device it would be well worth the added expense to develop the technology. Perhaps the industry could offer a subscription service as a premium so that a person might elect to pay for such security of the device.

It certainly would be a good way to discourage the theft of such a device. And by enforcing laws about being in possession of such a stolen device it would clearly discourage others from knowingly buying such a stolen device.

Of course the best way to stop people from stealing anything from a parked car is to simply never leave anything of value inside the car where others can see it. It only takes a couple of seconds to put it in the trunk. It takes a lot longer to replace a broken window.

However at this point in time the four youths named as reported by The Record are Michael Christopher Lutz, 18; Christopher Babilonia 18; and Hector Labatta, 19; all of North Bergen; and Johnathan Martinez, 18; of West New York.

Are U.F.O.’s Real?

It seems that I have been little inspired in writing anything lately. Not anything of value, not even any snake oil. That is assuming any of what I have ever written is of any value. I would like to think that some of it has at least a degree of merit. But in any event it keeps me out of trouble locked away in the snake pit with a computer to play with on a very cold winter day.

The political news is so boring that most people are burning out on it already. Perhaps that is the idea that if enough of the political nonsense is reported every day then we will all become so mind numbed to the real issues that we no longer care what they do or say in the beltway.

Most people like me are so busy simply trying to survive and watching our 401k going down the toilet that we don’t even have time to pay attention to the news. We are simply wrapped up in our work. On that front I am happy to learn that Quest Diagnostics has entered an agreement with General Motors for all new fleet vehicles.

That issue should prove to be a great cost savings to the company as I am certain that an excellent contract with great terms was written. What really excited me though was when it was announced in a town hall meeting that the vehicles will be retrofitted with rebuilt turbines which have been recently decommissioned by the United States Air Force.

There will be a few bugs to work out since as I reported to my manager when I hit the reverse thrusters on my test model I blew right past four accounts before I was able to stop. But I am sure that when that problem is resolved we will become more efficient at providing a great turn around time on specimens. Great idea Surya, on behalf of the crew thanks for the new rocket powered vehicles.

But now that I am finished discussing those things I want to address the issue of The U.F.O. phenomenon. Like I said before there isn’t much worth writing about. There are people who believe and people who don’t. I am undecided even though I have seen some unusual things in the night sky. As well I have some very good old friends in New Hampshire who lived many years ago in an area which had a great number of reported sightings.

I have no reason to question their sincerity and truthfulness in reporting what they had seen. One family had a house in an area which had regularly seen strange lights near their house in Merrimack County near Mount Kearsarge, home of the old fire ranger station and one of my favorite childhood summer haunts.

It was also an area where in those days there were reports of what became known as the New Hampshire Ghost Ship. Some of my friends had experienced that craft following them at night.

What got me thinking about this subject was the recent reporting of a large unidentified object by many people in a town in Texas. My personal belief is that many of these objects are advanced military craft which I understand is about fifty years ahead of the general aviation industry. In other words in fifty years our grandchildren will look up and simply say, look an Air Force fighter jet.

We of course see this sort of technology as extra terrestrial. Imagine if someone in the nineteen thirties saw a modern jet fighter. Their first thought would likely be invasion from Mars.

But this recent sighting in Texas seems to report a craft which was one mile long and a half mile wide. If the United States Military can get something that big off the ground then the people working at the area 51 skunk works are doing a really great job.

The thing which I find most interesting about the recent Texas ship is that there is virtually no reporting of it by main stream media other than the initial first day limited reporting. Has Uncle Sam ordered the story spiked? Let’s face it whether a real U.F.O. or military technology the Air Force isn’t saying anything.

Either way they have to deny it. The same old tired story military flares or helicopters flying in formation. Why not just say it is swamp gas or a weather balloon. But if it is in fact something other than military hardware why deny that people saw something which cannot be explained?

Is it because they think that people will panic and the country will fall into chaos? Perhaps that would have been true back in the 1950’s but I believe that today the reaction of the average person in the west would be how cool.

I am reminded of the old joke during the gas crunch of the 1970’s “Mr. President, I have some good news and some bad news. The bad news is that we have been invaded by Martians. The good news, they piss gasoline.”

So what is it really? I don’t know with any certainty, but I wish that those who do know would just come out and tell us that we have made contact. Maybe we can trade something for new energy technology. Maybe they just want a nice place to land so that they don’t always have to land in a swamp somewhere in the boondocks.

Anyway, that is all I have to write about at this moment. Like I said there isn’t much to write about lately. But as stated I am really excited about the new Quest Diagnostics jet powered vehicles.

Well, that is as issue for some other day. As Mork so often said Nah Noo, Nah Noo!

Texas U.F.O. Addendum:

Fifteen days after a through investigation by the United States Air Force into the Texas U.F.O. issue it was disclosed to the media that it was in fact ten fighter jets on training maneuvers which was what is alleged to have been witnessed by many individuals. Some reported that they had seen a very large craft flying very low and very fast.

Interestingly it was only two weeks ago that this same military which denied that there was any military activity in that area at the time in question. So how is it that now since the story has not gone away that anyone is expected to believe this cover, or should I write cover up?

With all of the taxpayer money which these good folks get from us you might think that they could come up with something more creditable for an explanation. And since I questioned why they can’t simply admit that there are some events like this which defy a rational explanation I now offer you a possible explanation to my own question.

Could it be that the U.S. military cannot admit to the citizenry whom it is sworn to defend that there is possibly something out there which is now here which is so awesome and technologically advanced which they cannot possibly fight against with our seemingly limited technology?

Is it that the U.S. military cannot admit that we are out gunned? I guess that it would have been a bad idea to even attempt to bring down something a mile long and a half mile wide anyway. If something that big can fly the chance is that the power plant might just be a nuclear driven machine.

Just the thought of something as big as that craft was reported to have been hitting the ground is pretty frightening as it would make a pretty big hole. God forbid that it crashes in a populated area. And if it is in anyway a nuclear power plant that just might cause a few problems for the cleanup crew and everyone else in Texas.

Perhaps the military brain trust has created a book on how to handle such a situation. Simply stick your head in the sand and hope that it goes away without too many people noticing. Then in order to handle the few who did in fact see it simply let L.E.D. the lame excuse department handle it.

American Democracy’s Final Act

Americans have been fortunate to have been given the birthright gift of a democratic society. But is such a system perfect and free from threat? In conclusion of a conversation with my son I began to dwell on some of the things which he had said. That conversation is what leads to this article.

The conversation began with the topic of freedom of association and what the government might do to interfere with such freedom. It seems that the government wants to force upon a community in New Jersey things which the community objects to. This community is founded by a Christian association which under charter made over a century ago made all of the real property within the community the possession of the association.

Nothing wrong with that as it was done with the backing of its membership. But now it seems that a lesbian couple wants to have a civil union which is recognized by the State of New Jersey performed on the property of this association. This religious association apparently rents the facility to couples who wed at this beach facility.

Now it would seem that since this religious association is legally permitted to decide as a religious group, by way of freedom of association, to disallow the use of this facility by a lesbian couple, there should be no problem.

But it appears that according to some legal opinion there are mitigating factors which are being utilized to take this religious association to task. Apparently this religious association which is on a stretch of New Jersey’s beautiful shore received some money from either State or Federal treasury or perhaps both in order to repair beach erosion damage caused by a winter storm.

By accepting tax dollars this otherwise private community might have lost its right to disallow a lesbian couple from using its facilities. The courts will decide. A lesson to be learned here is that sometimes the hand that feeds you might also bite you. And yes that is an intentional reversal of the old saying.

But the conversation got far deeper after this. It got into what constitutes what is the difference between what a church might do to a member in church discipline and what if anything the government might do to intervene and interfere with that church discipline.

This leads to a few comments on the subject of Islam and Sharia law. Do those who practice Islam have the right to practice Sharia law in the United States of America? My first comment was no, absolutely not!

But if that is the case then the question is raised, why might any church be permitted to practice any form of church discipline? Of course the thought is such law would not be permitted to be held as a standard to which non Muslims must follow.

But if it is a matter of simply holding Muslims to such a standard then is there really a problem? Of course the highest law which all Americans regardless of religious belief or lack thereof must come under is the Law of the Land. Sharia would possibly seek to overrule Constitutional law. Never must that be permitted.

But as it relates to actions within the Islamic community and those who profess to follow such dictates willingly why then is there a problem with those individuals subjecting themselves to Sharia law?

This issue leads to even more discussion which raised the subject which gives title to this article. Can it be possible that at some future date we will see the demise of our beloved Constitution and Bill of Rights in favor of Sharia law?

How might such a thing be possible? Imagine for a moment if there was a time in the near future that through legal immigration, birth and conversation to Islam a large portion of the American Populace was aligned with Islam and the dictates of Sharia.

If at this future date all of these devout Islamists were politically oriented what might be the result? Imagine if you will a man who has alliances and allegiance to Islam were to be elected to the highest office in the land. Perhaps a number of the members of the House and Senate were also cut from the same pattern.

And at this time the new President has the opportunity to appoint a number of Supreme Court Justices. Perhaps through a case being decided by this future Supreme Court it might be ruled that all Muslims must be guided and judged by a Sharia established court.

At the same time might it be possible for a majority of the populace now dedicated to the advancement of the new Islamic American State to pass laws eliminating the Bill of Rights and the Supreme Court in favor of a Sharia appointed Court that all Americans might be subject to?

Is it possible that as stated by my son, the ultimate democratic act, American Democracy’s final act might be the intentional democratic destruction of democracy itself at a ballot box? This is of course nothing more than theoretical ponderings of a Snake Oil Salesman on a winter afternoon. Or is it?

Michael Savage a Plagiarist?

Plagiarism is the act of taking from someone else an original work or word and conveying it to others as if it is your own creation. It is something frowned upon in law and at the very least something done by people who have no honor or moral worth. It is something which is done by individuals who have no individual talent or are perhaps too inept to create their own work.

So, to hear Mark Levin refer to Michael Savage as a plagiarist on his syndicated talk show during the January 2, 2008 broadcast left me somewhat amused. I say that in view of how I define that action in the opening paragraph of this blog comment as it is in no way applicable to Michael Savage.

Savage is perhaps one of the most talented and creative talk show hosts in the business today. To call him simply a talk show host is in fact an insult. He is far more than that. He is a mentor in world history. He might very well better understand the significance of history as it relates to current events than most.

How is it that he must stand up to those who would attempt to suppress freedom of speech and at the same time face the derision of those who should rather be standing with him in his fight? After all, if he were to lose his lawsuit against CAIR, highly improbable yet a possibility, it would harm all talk show hosts.

Rather than insult the educational achievements of Savage, Mark Levin should be freely offering his legal expertise in assistance to Savage. To suggest that Savage is nothing because he has a “degree in food” is not a wise move on the part of Levin.

Eventually all talk show hosts are going to face the threat of suppression of their right to voice an opinion. Savage is simply the lightning rod. It is their responsibility as they hold a public trust of the public airwaves to unite with Savage in order to stop this threat.

It is also the responsibility of bloggers to stand up and support Savage with a united front of unity. Words do have power. What is written in defense of free speech and unity of thought might cause others to wake up. That is the real message of Savage to America. Wake Up Mark!

A New Beginning

Well, the New Year is here and I have to say that it really feels much like the one which just left. But being the eternal optimist I am willing to give it a chance. When I think back over the events of the past year I believe that it was one filled with much heartbreak and contention. That is something which I am fairly well responsible for.

But there are others who played a roll in that debacle. And I wish all of them well in hope that 2008 proves to be more peaceful and prosperity is had by everyone. That is especially true for the few friends I have remaining at Quest Diagnostics wherever you might find yourself.

I wish the corporate leadership at Quest Diagnostics well and simply ask that when you are counting the profits that you always remember and never forget who it is that makes it possible for you to have so many beans to count. Yes, it is all of us.

On a personal note I wish well to those members of our family who lost loved ones this year. It seems that many of us had that sad experience this year, including myself. If for one reason only, to honor their memories, we find the inner strength to carry on then that is what we should do.

In our diverse family each of us as individuals likely have personal beliefs of God and eternity. Who is right and who is not is not so important as much as how it affects who we are as people and how we treat others. In the end we can find a way that makes us happy.

So having said all of that I will simply wish to each of you who are kind enough to see each day what this old Snake Oil Salesman has to say all of the good things that life has to offer. Please understand that I am only one individual on a ship that has many aboard.

A Quest for Healthy Living

The following is an excerpt from an article reviewing Quest Diagnostics as an investment position. I would always support anyone who points investor money to Quest Diagnostics. However I have a small issue with a point made in the following excerpt. After you read it I will continue my comments below.

As the baby-boom generation continues to grow and becomes worrisome of health problems, these individuals will be eager to find out any detrimental-body problems. More customers leads to more demand, and more demand will lead to higher sales and higher EPS numbers. Somewhat related, Quest also focuses on esoteric testing. What these tests deal with include metabolism, genetics, and blood clots. Not only are all of these areas related to aging individuals, but overweight individuals as well. Unhealthy diets and inactive lifestyles can severely hinder people from living proper lives. As a result, tests are needed for prescription purposes, and healthcare facilities like Quest benefit once again. And as the life expectancy continues to grow higher and individuals continue to make unhealthy choices, this New Jersey-based company will please shareholders. However, looking at the other companies in this industry, an investor may notice that most of the rivals to Quest have similar business strategies. What differentiate Quest from these competitors, however, is its strong fundamentals.

I would agree with much of what the author of the article writes but my problem is in the focus on Quest Diagnostics making money based on the unhealthy lifestyle which many of us live.

Though it is true that Quest Diagnostics does make money by such reason and it is true the article is focusing on the creation of personal wealth, the fact remains that Quest Diagnostics is focused on improving and advancing good health through technologies. This is what drives the engine which as a result is creating the very best in medical diagnostics.

This company is comprised of many health specialists who have as a mission advancing science frontiers so that all people might have the opportunity to live a healthy lifestyle. Quest Diagnostics believes that one of its primary missions is to help the medical community make good decisions by providing the most accurate information in a timely manner.

If that mission is met then there is no reason to doubt that Quest Diagnostics will continue to grow and evolve into a highly stable company which in the perspective, I believe, of the author of the article is to state that Quest Diagnostics is a solid investment.

But simply basing that position of finance strategy on poor health lifestyle is, I believe, an error in judgment of the blogger since any company can perform diagnostic testing. What then is making the difference? It is in the people at Quest Diagnostics who stand behind the testing process.

Licensing Humans

In a recent guest editorial published in the Weekend Edition of The News Eagle of Hawley, Pennsylvania written by Sheldon Richman, a Libertarian of the first order, he makes certain assumptions and assertions which if given a modicum of thought simply don’t hold water. Let us consider his assertion that it is not a proper thing to license humans.

To begin with the term used “licensing humans” in the title of his editorial is patently misleading. The action of the government is not to “license humans” as such would imply that we have no right to exist sans a license issued by the government. No such thing is suggested in any legal establishing document of our Nation.

The government and governmental agencies, local, state and federal do not license humans, they license activities of those humans. Based upon an apparent precept of Richman it would appear that anyone can do anything they choose to do without the need of anyone holding them to a standard.

Imagine that you were required to go to a hospital for medical care. Would you want to stay at a medical facility which was not required by law to meet specific standards of health and cleanliness? Would you want to be treated by someone who simply decided one day that she or he was qualified to be a practitioner of medical arts?

The same would be applicable to any professional field in which life or safety often hangs in the balance. Sure I would be more than happy to design and build a bridge over the Delaware River. After all, I had an Erector Set as a small boy.

In addition, adding to my Erector Set expertise I regularly drive across a bridge over the Delaware River. I think my observations on the many bridges I have ever driven across have given me enough knowledge to construct one. It is nothing more than a conglomeration of steel and concrete.

I even live near and have walked upon the Roebling Bridge which was built in the mid nineteenth century by John Roebling the man who designed and built the famed Brooklyn Bridge. Now if being in the company of John Roebling doesn’t qualify me to build a bridge then nothing does.

I don’t question the educational bona fides of the gentlemen, only his opinion on the matter which is clearly colored by his political views. That is the problem with any political agenda or dogma; it fails to provide leeway for truly free thought. You always must remain true to your cause even if it fails to consider the reality of the situation. You must never permit the facts to get in your way.

In regard to his editorial viewpoint Richman, true to his position, seems to suggest that the convoluted system of governmental authority should not require that we be licensed to operate a motor vehicle. That licensing regulation would of course in the mind of Richman be something which would prevent illegal aliens whom he refers to by the term “undocumented residents” from enjoying the liberties which he suggests they are entitled to by having entered this country in violation of law which it appears that the Freedom Foundation believes should not even exist in the first place.

No Sheldon, they are by textbook definition illegal invaders as has been often pointed out by radio talk show host Michael Savage. How then sir if, as you state, they are here simply for a better life by working hard, are so many of them guests of this countries penal system? And no it isn’t because they are victims of xenophobia or racism.

They are in prison at the expense and burden of the American Taxpayer simply because they were caught committing a criminal act. Could it be that at least some of them really are here in order to carry out their criminal activity? That criminal activity becomes much easier if no one is aware that they are here in the first place.

Mr. Richman the larger picture of what you are attempting to accomplish is a worthy cause. But it cannot be done in a way which invites every desperate soul in the world into this nation by eradicating boarders, language and culture.

Wouldn’t it be a better scenario if the American form of government and rule of law were exported to the nations in which these disparate souls currently reside? If the borders of the United States of America were officially open to all with a large welcome sign so that all might enter without documentation or any form of background check then indeed all will in time arrive on these shores.

Consider that they will hold political and social views far different than those which you so passionately espouse. Perhaps they might decide that what this country really needs is a good solid communist government.

Possibly they, depending upon their strength of numbers and conviction, will decide that what this country really needs in order to become a great nation is the elimination of our Constitution and rule of law and the establishment of the rule of the Religion of Peace and the implementation of Surea Law.

At that time will you become far less of a Libertarian and much more of a xenophobic isolationist? Perhaps it would be better for you to moderate your viewpoint so that the rights which you enjoy might remain in tact. Is there room for your viewpoint? Of course there is, there is room enough for all voices to be heard.

I would not for a moment suggest that you have no right to voice that opinion since by doing so you keep open the lines of debate which is what is really needed to keep the founding principle alive.

But by fighting your cause in your pursuit of an agenda of Libertarianism you clearly harm your own cause. The American people want the freedom which was recognized as emanating from God in the founding documents.

In your pursuit of the basic principles both you and your Freedom Foundation are to be commended. But no philosophy or political dogma is without its inherent faults including your own.

The way in which to have true democracy is by keeping on guard as you are currently doing but at the same time moderating your viewpoint to one which recognizes that some degree of governmental intervention is mandatory.

And yes the attacks launched against the sovereign soil of The United States of America on the eleventh day of September, 2001 did in fact change the way in which the freedom of the American people is impacted. Open borders though is not an acceptable option. Some governmental regulation is mandatory.

Vacation Fun

Dear Diary:

What has old Snake been up to lately? Well as you already know I have not really been in the mood to write anything since dad died back in October. Funny how things affect you in ways that you would never have thought possible.

Along with that was the recent union issue at work. Since I permitted myself to become so deeply entrenched in that debacle and all of the sundry issues related to it I now seem to be paying the price in a physical way.

Rather than enjoying a few days of vacation rest in some pleasant setting i.e. my front porch, my retreat of first resort and the place where I intend to spend my non union retirement, I spent much of it in a hospital bed in Port Jervis, New York.

I must say that Bon Secours has an excellent, compassionate professional medical staff. They did an excellent job helping me to get back on my feet after informing me that I have a hole in my stomach large enough to drive a freight train through.

However I will need to continue with some serious outpatient follow up care. But If I behave myself and eat the right foods and stop worrying about the fate of the human race I just might get to the point where I can do what I need to do such as breathe.

Apparently when your hemoglobin level drops so low that you don’t have hardly any red blood cells several things can happen. One your heart gets all screwed up and tends to want to stop beating. Actually it overworks itself until it just shuts down much like a car engine running at high R.P.M.’s with limited oil in the crankcase.

So if you don’t want to die way to young try to stay calm and eat a healthy diet. And don’t drink good Kentucky Bourbon. Fair Thee Well Maker’s Mark. Damn and I just bought a new bottle.

Well, at least as an employee benefit at Quest Diagnostics I will be able to get the company to perform all of the follow up lab work for free. I sure hope that the medical insurance is as good as Wendy says it is because I am about to get hit with some pretty hefty medical bills since about half of the medical community of Pike County Pennsylvania and Orange County New York were and still are caring for me.

A Common Bond

Long before the invention of modern G.P.S. devices, at a time when only the wealthy and educated owned maps, individuals who traveled likely determined where they were by the local language spoken. If the native tongue were Italian there was a good likelihood that such individual had ventured into Italy.

But if someone today were to venture into the United States of America what nation would that individual determine that they had come to? Surely with the cacophony of languages being spoken it would be a difficult task to make such assessment accurately.

The fact that many languages are spoken in this nation is nothing new since we are a nation built of many nations. Our true national treasure is that very fact. We as a people have gained much through the hard work and genius which was given us by the many diverse cultures of our predecessors.

Our modern cities were founded and built by people of many cultures speaking many differing languages. Consider the architectural design abilities of the Western and Eastern European nations?

And those of course relied on the science and mathematical genius of the ancient Arabic culture. It is something which when blended together gave us our greatest treasure, each other.

Yet apart from unique cultural traditions there has always been special glue which has bound us together, acting in a way of empowering us on a common ground which has always united us as a people, a nation. That one very important thing has always been our common language, English.

With each new wave of immigration came a new language. Those who spoke the language of the family kept it alive within the family for at least a generation as that is common for all people. That matter remains true today, yet today something has changed.

It seems that there is a certain political segment operating within our society which feels that it is mandatory that each group be encouraged to keep alive that language and that the greater society must cater to those who speak that language.

In effect we are losing our national identity to a mindset, a political viewpoint, which if continued can only weaken an already weakened nation further. Historically all peoples who have come to these shores have contributed to the greater good of our society. By allowing a dilution of our culture by a multi-cultural multi-linguistic society we only permit harm to the nation.

Government owes people nothing more than opportunity. Education in English is the fairest way to assure that all people in the United States are afforded that opportunity. It is also the best way to assure that the current form of Government remains stable.

For people to have fair and complete opportunity they must first fully understand the concept of the founding fathers, government of, by and for the people. As radio talk show host Barry Farber once stated, “A government is nothing more than a language, with an army to back it up.”

Ever since dad died a month ago today, I can’t seem to get motivated enough to write anything which has any value to me. I am sorry and apologize to those of you who visit often.

I can’t remember a time when there was snow on the Red Maple and Red Maple leaves still on the tree. And it is not yet even Thanksgiving Day. That is my only thought for this day.

CNN Christian political talk show host Glenn Beck opened up his show recently referring to all those who are opposed to the war in Iraq [70% to 80% of Americans] as “terrorists” and “terrorist sympathizers” and his guest, David Horowitz, joined in on the attack saying that all Ron Paul supporters were “totally in bed with the Islamofascists” and then Beck went on to suggest that the U.S. military should be used to silence domestic dissent against the war, claiming that Ron Paul supporters, libertarians, and the anti-war crowd are a “physical threat” to the United States Government.

“When you enlist in the U.S. military, you have to take an oath that says you're gonna support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies - foreign and domestic - we talk a lot on this program about the foreign threats - maybe we should spend some time tonight on the domestic one....the physical threat may be developing domestically as well.” said Beck, parroting talking points that can be traced back to a September 2006 White House directive in which conspiracy theorists were targeted as a wellspring of terrorism. This is part of an increasing propaganda assault which has also been mimicked by other Neoconservative talking bodies like Bill O'Reilly and Rush Limbaugh. There is much irony in Glenn Beck's statement because Ron Paul has spent his whole life campaigning to bring our government back into line with the Constitution of the United States and now he and his followers are being labeled enemies of the Constitution they have spent their lives upholding. “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!” [Isaiah 5:20 ]

All United States citizens, but especially Christians in the US, should think long and hard about what's being said here. This kind of talk should be a wake up call for us all to realize how far our nation is being steered off course and the destination to which the current leadership is taking us. While calling themselves “Christian”, these political talking bodies are calling many decent, peace loving citizens, “terrorists” or “Islamofascists” who should be physically silenced and restrained because they oppose prolonged, undeclared wars waged for political and economic expediency and not for the national defense. Such talk, stemming from an increasingly intolerant and forceful governmental agenda, historically has always been the precursor to the fulfillment of the very definition of fascism [“a governmental system led by a dictator having complete power, forcibly suppressing opposition and criticism...”]. From the sentiments of recent government directives and memos, it is not hard to imagine that the dictator part could well be filled almost overnight if we were to have another major terrorist attack in this country which would give the cowboy in the White House an excuse to declare marshall law and himself Head Marshall of all the USA.

If Beck and Horowitzk, or O'Reilly and Limbaugh, or anybody in the government advocates that the government should use the very same methods fascists use for suppressing dissent, it is they, themselves, who are the fascists. Or should we say Neoconfascists? There is an irony here that can only be missed or ignored at the peril of losing our freedom of speech and assembly, along with many other freedoms. An even greater irony is that some of these Neoconfascists call themselves “Christian”.

It is also being parroted over the Neoconservative air waves that if there is another major terrorist attack in the United States it will be the fault of those who oppose the war on terror, but their reasoning is incredibly stupid because, since Sept 11, 2001, our government has spent almost 2 trillion dollars almost to the brink of bankruptcy fighting the war on terror in Afghanistan and Iraq, but we have yet to spend a fraction of that money even to begin to make our borders, seaports, and airports even remotely secure. If you lived in a neighborhood on one side of the street and several neighbors on the other side of the street were threatening your very existence through guerilla warfare, would you spend all your money sending your sons across the street to wage warfare with your enemies while your family is at home with all your doors and windows unlocked? You would never be so foolhardy, would you? You would, of course, use every possible means to make all the entrances to your house secure to protect your loved ones before sending any of your sons anywhere to fight an enemy that blends in with the local population. But this is not the way your loving government is protecting their citizen family. It is as if they are leaving the doors and windows of our country wide open as if they are hoping for another attack in this country in order to advance their New World Order agenda for world government and control of the world economy.

My Spiritual Journey Continues

As I begin my spiritual journey in pursuit of enlightenment I must remember to keep an open mind. Yes I must accept that all things are possible in the realm of spirituality. I must not discount or ridicule any of what I find in my journey. Who knows what is true? People who seem to be adept at learning great mysteries of the cosmos are the Hindu people. So perhaps they have learned great secrets in their own journey.

As I find something which is almost unbelievable it opens the mind to possibilities of great social benefit. Think of the cost savings to corporations if they would simply apply some of these techniques for dealing with troublesome problems.

So, if you like me want to open your mind to possibilities of a somewhat less than F.A.A. standard in order to improve business effectiveness simply read this news report of what you can do with a goat. If you like goats as pets you might not want to read this linked article.

Excuse me while I make a call to Nepal Airlines, as I have to make a trip and want to fly a top-of-the-line air service. Indeed, an airline which relies on far more than aircraft mechanics? Now that’s what I call a spiritual journey.

Savage Defends Islam?

In what at first blush appears to be a defense of Islam, Michael Savage spoke out against the perverted path which the extreme left has taken America down. Though he is clearly no fan of freedom hating radical Islam, Savage pointed out that Islam is in a fight for the soul of its youth.

But an interesting question raised is how far individual freedom can be permitted to go before that freedom reverts to pure decadence which will always consume itself in the end.

It seems that nature or some profound law of God has placed a circuit breaker in the soul of man so that anytime the populace goes beyond a certain boundary the pendulum of cosmic order pulls society from the brink of its own profligate demise.

This action has in most instances been accompanied by some great global conflagration which has made it a painful exercise. But with modern technological advances in warfare and weaponry the next conflagration might just prove to be one which leaves a hole far to big for mankind to crawl back out of.

So with all of the decadence in the western world it appears that people who believe that they serve the one true God are the ones who will lead mankind back to that place where God is the focus of our passion rather than sex, drugs and rock and roll.

Somehow I doubt that there are very many people in America who will truly embrace the message of Islam. Certainly some have and will continue to do so. Religion will in the near future play a significant role in the lives of many who are rapidly becoming burned out or simply burned by the corporate American dream.

People like Savage who himself seems to take comfort in the words of the bible as the only rational choice for America brings on an almost daily basis reports of how the corporate greed of free enterprise has begun to sell the very future security of America down the river.

I see a time when Savage becomes, no not the President of the United States but rather a great evangelist of a new religion comprised of people who want and plan on taking back America.

The government will respond by attempting to silence the voice of the great American prophet, Michael Savage. Yes, the government has much to fear from Savage as they understand that a religious movement which has many followers is an unstoppable force.

Savage has that kind of listenership and he has proven it on several occasions as he has been directly responsible for the vote made in Congress. No one of his enemies will admit that. Not even his peers in talk radio will admit that.

Right now Savage is once again about to unleash his army of devotees upon Washington in order to prevent the wholesale dismantling of one of Americas most vital assets, our defense department.

This is why both the left and right want to see Savage taken down fast and hard. But it can’t be permitted and when push comes to shove the moral majority shall clearly prevail. But it is certainly going to get ugly out there in the streets of America before that end result is accomplished.

Michael Savage is going to be written in the history books of an America which rises from the swamp of decadents and perversion which has all but consumed the America of our grandfathers.

Whatever the outcome, there are clearly many who have come to rely on Savage as one of the very few who have the courage to speak truth to all who will simply listen and believe. He is a man who stands above the crowd because he speaks what he believes without regard to any allegiance.

Savage recently had no problem in referring to Ann Coulter as a “vile skank” and also a “filthy skank” after she made comments which appear to be highly offensive to the Jew and any who recognize that there is a separation of dogma but not a separation of fidelity between Christian and Jew.

That aside you have to admit that Coulter is one of the hottest looking babes around the right wing lecture circuit. So since I judge much on appearance being the woman objectifying guy I really am, I will have to say that we just need to give Ann a little bit of slack on this one.

How will it all turn out is anyone’s guess. One thing which is certainly apparent is that Michael Savage is one of the biggest and baddest dogs on the block!

Traffic Jam Epiphany

Since I have been so busy with other matters lately, I have been neglectful of this blog to my ultimate shame. Now, since the other issue has been completely resolved, or has it, I can once again dedicate myself to what it is I actually enjoy doing, which is writing for the pleasure of writing as well as for your entertainment.

Now don’t think for even a moment that I didn’t enjoy writing every single word which I dedicated my time to writing in recent weeks. But that was done for the most part out of a need to rally the troops in loyalty. Sadly some of those troops don’t understand the word loyalty.

But that is something for yet another blog. This is more about how I feel at the moment. And that of course, if you are keeping score, is related to the subject of disloyalty of the aforementioned troops which is as stated the fodder for another blog at some future date.

The only significant result of that writing was to give the administration of Quest Diagnostics, legal, human resources and possibly the company psychologist something to do with their time which was considerable according to my tracking software.

But when you spend something on the order of half a million dollars of DXG Stock Investor money on Union Busting Satanic Carpet Bagger Whores, I ask you, what is a few dozen hours at a computer terminal, at non union executive rate pay reading virtually everything which I have ever posted.

In reality, the money which you just screwed us out of can be used to subsidize that unbudgeted expense. Actually now that I think about it I would imagine that corporate would budget for such a thing. And with good reason you might want to calculate the next drive.

Hello Carpet Baggers, this is Quest Diagnostics, we have another situation.

Please don’t think that I am complaining about you reading my writing because I am not. I truly appreciate that you think enough of what I have to say to a worldwide audience that you would take time out of your day to tune in to this blog or any other blog I post on.

But this is a blog about getting back to the world as I have become accustomed to it being and clearly remaining for some time to come. So let me offer for your reading entertainment something which I composed in the attic of my skull while doing the job which by the way, for the moment, is still a non union job.

I present to you what is now a very appropriate article for me at this time. I hope that it makes you laugh. Even if it doesn’t make you laugh it might give you just a little bit of insight into the soul of the person you just burned. It is the soul of someone who lives with a totally fractured multiple personality issue brought about by years of emotional and psychological child rape.

The article is the result of the thought patterns of the child who stood upon the pedestrian overpass which at twelve years of age he would often visit in contemplation of his life and exactly how and when it would end. It is the writing of the same person who now drives under that overpass each day of the week in his now still non union job.

I here offer you an old writing titled “Traffic Jam Epiphany.”

Recently I found myself in my typical routine of being stuck in a late afternoon traffic jam. At the precise moment that I reached my level 4 aggravation mode, the “I can’t take much more of this, can it get any worse” mode, it got worse. Blaring from the six speaker stereo system emanated the dreadfully happy sound of the Starland Vocal Band singing their big 70’s hit “Afternoon Delight.”

On a good day “Afternoon Delight” is certainly no delight. Actually an afternoon delight is just fine with me, but as it relates to the song, no thanks. Considering at that moment my view was the back of an inter-modal tractor trailer bringing yet one more load of Red Chinese, slave labor manufactured, American economy destroying, goods for the penny wise pound foolish American consumer, my afternoon delight level was just a little south of “delightful.”

It was at about this moment in time that my “traffic jam epiphany” occurred. As if a bright light from above shown down upon me, I understood what few dare think about until that special moment arises. I considered the notion, what the common man really needs is a guide. No, I am not talking about a map of New Jersey’s highways and byways. What he needs is a guide to writing a good suicide note.

After all, when you reach the end of your rope you don’t want to go out leaving loved ones and bill collectors wondering what went so terribly wrong in your pathetic life. When the State Police pull you from the wreckage “Afternoon Delight” will no longer be playing and they might not understand the circumstances surrounding your demise.

In order to expedite their investigation you might have had the consideration in your final moments to scrawl on a piece of scrap paper the words “Starland Vocal Band.”

At the very least by such action you will have bequeathed to the State’s overburdened tax payers the expense of a lengthy police investigation. Yours will, after all, not have been the first Starland Vocal Band induced suicide. They will simply chalk off your demise as a self induced death related to incredibly annoying music. Case closed.

My epiphany revealed to me that when people are planning to “check out” they have more important things to think about than composing a good suicide note. Considering you are saying goodbye to the world a suicide note is something which should not be written in haste. Advance planning is important but who has the time?

A good suicide note should reflect the person who you were. It should paint you in a good light. It should not be something which gives people the impression that you were simply one of life’s many regrettable losers.

Wouldn’t it be nice to have someone skilled at writing, produce suicide notes for all occasions? All the individual would have to do is select the note from the appropriate category i.e. bad marriage, financial problems, health issues or any of the myriad other ostensibly good reasons for ending it all.

Visiting a trendy card shop I noted that popular greeting card companies make great cards for many occasions. But I have never been able to find a really well written suicide card. The thought occurred that this is a clearly under represented market. Someone with the right financial backing could do very well in such a venture.

Perhaps one of the better known and well established card brands might, in view of current lack of market share in suicide cards, consider developing this under represented segment of the marketplace of specialty cards. It is such a good market that I might consider getting into the field myself. I think that it would work well with the concept of the book of advance suicide notes.

Another area which might do well is the suicide note gift book. It would out of necessity be a specialty order item which would have the recipients name pre printed on the individual notes. People pay a premium for such custom products. I remember how excited I was when my mom gave me a box of pencils with my name embossed when I was in the third grade. It is a fact that people appreciate a gift with their name on it.

You will be the person whom they remember when they think about their many friends. It will give you the chance to show your thoughtfulness by having their name printed ahead of time saving them the trouble. It would also serve as a good way to suggest that you wish that they would “off” them self. It is a real win, win situation.

All of this conceptualization is the result of the broadcast of one song. Perhaps I will do a google search to locate the person who wrote that song so that I might send along one of the first copies of the book of advance written and pre signed suicide notes for all occasions.

Now, what shall I name the book? Suicide Notes For The Busy Businessman? Witty Ways To Say Goodbye? Short Notes For Short Ropes? Saying Goodbye Made Easy? Love Means Never Having To Write A Suicide Note? Well, I’ll come up with something. Right now I have to write a suicide note. No, not mine silly, but maybe yours.

Keep an eye out for the book. I don’t know when I’ll get it done. It’s not like I have to kill myself over the book. Suicide notes are far too important to rush. Those final words need to be just right. Writing a suicide note for someone else is very serious business.

I wonder if I can take this public. How does one start an I.P.O. for death? What stock exchange shall I list it on? Maybe I can go international with this. After all, suicide is a big market. With all of the problems in the world it might even be a growth industry.

Remember, death is absolute it is not like golf, there is no mulligan. Think about it before you pull the trigger. It really isn’t all that bad. Your problem likely is nothing that a good blast of Scotch Whiskey can’t fix.

If though, you are intent on doing the deed, at least wait until I get the book into production. That way I can make a fast buck off of your departure to points unknown. So, until we meet again have a good life or at the very least a convenient death.

Gary Cangemi Issues Clarification

Regarding my statement concerning Paul L. Williams, that he is “laughing all the way to the bank,” I have been asked by Mr. Williams’ attorney to clarify my meaning before the public so as to dispel any notion that I was suggesting that Mr. Williams or his attorneys intended to use the Paul L. Williams Defense Fund for anything other than his legal defense of the McMaster University lawsuit. According to the Cambridge International Dictionary of Idioms, “if someone is laughing all the way to the bank, they have made a lot of money very easily, often because someone else has been stupid.” Nothing in this phrase implies that the money one is taking to the bank was acquired fraudulently, or that the person who acquired it intends to misuse it, nor was it my intent that any such notion be construed from my statement. While I have no reason to doubt that Mr. Williams and his attorneys will be using every cent of this money in his defense, my only intent was to express my personal opinion, based on my past experiences with the man, that Paul L. Williams has very little respect for the intelligence of the public whose money he will all too willingly accept to fund his legal defense. I do, however, apologize to Mr. Williams’ attorneys for any perceived suggestion that these funds were inappropriately administered. Such was not my intent.

Dr. Paul Williams in His Own Words

When publishing the words of others you sometimes find that you open doors which might better have been left closed. This is especially true in matters where things can be seen as a matter of personal opinion. It is especially true when the person being on the receiving end of the comments is someone who has daily held himself out in the public eye as a champion of truth.

In such instances when reputation is all that a person has, especially when that person is facing daily legal attacks because of his stance against the evils of terrorism against America, it might not have been a wise course of action to publish anything which calls into question that reputation.

So, since that has already taken place due to circumstance of a belief in Freedom of Speech it is incumbent that Dr. Williams be afforded every opportunity to speak in his own words in response to the Gary Cangemi statements.

I will leave it up to the reader to accept the words of both gentlemen and discern exactly what the truth is. If you consider the personal accomplishments of Dr. Williams in his own words I think that you will be hard pressed to doubt his past actions.

I make no judgment of either fellow and even though I respect the right of Cangemi to have had his voice in the subject of the public personality known as Dr. Paul Williams, I state for the record in no uncertain terms that I remain both fan and friend of Paul Williams.

Gary Cangemi has stated to me that what he has now stated on public record is all true and he can and is willing to back up his own words in a court of public law. That as far as I am concerned is as far as I am willing to go in defense of Freedom of Speech. Cangemi has had his voice heard.

Any further discussion between Cangemi and Williams on the matter can be taken up between them in that public venue. I pledge that I will still continue to cover the story of Paul Williams as he continues to stand up for America.

Having said the above words, I forthwith offer you the words of a man who not only defends the security of Americans every day with much passion but now defends his own reputation and integrity.

I wish you had contacted me before posting the malicious allegations by Gary Cangemi. To get to the truth of the matter, please call Cangemi and ask him who owned and operated THE METRO (yours truly), who put up every dime for its publication (me), who edited the paper and penned most of the copy (me). Please ask him about his duties at The Metro.

He was a cartoonist for which he was well paid. Ask him if I ever cheated him out of a dollar. Ask him what he paid for the stock in THE METRO (nothing, I gave him five shares as a gift). Ask him if I was responsible for laundering money through The Metro for the mob (I want him to be straight-forward so that I can sue him).

Ask him when these alleged events took place (in 1993 - - more than 14 years ago). Ask him about my reputation as a journalist (I was the only journalist to capture three first-place Keystone Press Awards in three different categories in the same year - 1993). Ask him about the reputation of The Metro under my tenure (it was named one of the best newspapers in the state for editorial content by The Pennsylvania Association of Newspaper Publishers).

Ask him if he appeared on talk shows in Northeastern Pennsylvania to say that I sold The Metro to Louis DeNaples, a landfill owner with alleged ties to the Mafia (an allegation that is ridiculous). Ask him what he knows about my affiliation with the FBI (I served the bureau on a regular basis between 1995 - 2001 and was responsible for placing Mafia thugs in the slammer. During this time, I had no contact with Cangemi).

Ask him about his own training in journalism. Ask him what financial investment he or Larry Sparano made in any enterprise of mine (none). Ask him what he knows about my background and training as an editor (Before establishing The Metro with my own means, I served as the senior editor for Northeast Books, the publishing arm of The Fellowship of Catholic Scholars).

Ask him about the journalistic expertise of Paul Ferrario, the writer I edited (Ferrario is a barber in Carbondale with no training whatsoever in journalism). Ask him for the basis of his statement that I am "laughing all the way to the bank" with funds from the defense account. Call Cangemi at [Number Redacted.] It will be easy for you to uncover the truth. When you accomplish this, please remove the inflammatory statements regarding my character from your blog. What is the truth about Paul Williams?

A name which has gained considerable national recognition due in large part to the Michael Savage program is that of Paul Williams. Williams is someone who, when appearing as a guest on The Savage Nation, a nationally syndicated radio broadcast, has attracted great interest.

Indeed Williams with the publicity provided by Savage has gained much praise and admiration from many. Included among those admirers I list myself. So, when I open an e-mail and read something which asks if I know who the real Paul Williams is, I simply find myself looking for the old investigatory writer’s hat.

So, having dusted off the hat I reply in order to learn more about Mr. Williams. And soon enough I have a story submitted from someone who appears to know much about Williams that the average blogger might not have access to.

And now I ask myself, do I go with this story. Not being one who believes in censorship in most instances, I believe that it is not only fair to give a venue to this story but possibly important that I do so.

And in consideration that the author of the story claims to have not been able to address these issues with Savage on his radio broadcast I am hopeful that Savage, who I believe reads many blogs which contain reference to him will see this article and take the opportunity to get in contact with the author of the following journalistic expose’ so that he might arrange to interview the author.

As Snake Oil Sam is a resident of the geographic region in which the author worked with Williams I find it a little more than interesting. But a good story is a good story no matter what part of the country it originated in.

I just wonder if this story might be picked up by the mainstream press due to the things stated herein. If it does in fact gain any recognition I Snake Oil Sam take full credit for uncovering the story.

If on the other hand this article makes any wise guys really mad, something which I seem to have developed a knack for lately, I blame it all on the author of the story. As he writes in his own words, “As for the veracity of my story, I know full well the lawsuit I risk from Williams if any of it isn't true. I am an eyewitness to most everything I detailed. There are others who can back me up, most notably Larry Sparano, who is now a news anchor at the Fox affiliate in Binghamton, NY.”

Having said all of that, I will now present for your consideration the story which I received from the author in his own words.

The Truth about Paul Williams

I don’t know how much longer I can take hearing Paul Williams being touted as an anti-terrorist hero, while real heroes are fighting and dying to keep our nation safe with no more reward than their army pay and the gratitude of those of us who support the war on terror. It also sickens me to see so many people sending their hard-earned money to the “P.T. Barnum of Journalism” who suddenly finds himself on the receiving end of a lawsuit as a result of his reckless style of journalism. This man is no hero. In my experienced opinion, Paul Williams is a journalistic fraud who (is) deserving of neither sympathy nor our cash.

Who the hell am I? My name is Gary Cangemi, a self employed freelance graphic artist and cartoonist, who once worked with Williams on the Scranton weekly newspaper, The Metro, which was published by the Scranton Cultural Society, a non-profit organization founded and run by Williams. When I first met and worked with Paul, I was taken in as was everyone else by his apparent sincerity, his articulate persona, and his seeming dedication to publishing a newspaper that told the truth about Scranton, Pennsylvania and the corrupt political machinery that ran it. The staff included myself as editorial writer and cartoonist, local TV CBS affiliate anchorman Larry Sparano, a contributing writer, Paul Ferraro, an environmental writer, Mitch Grochowski, investigative writer, and many others, all working freelance for the weekly tabloid. We all worked hard with little pay to try to make The Metro a success and an alternative source of news and information.

The Metro, however, was beset with financial problems because of the efforts of a frequent target of our stories…Louis DeNaples, the local landfill operator, a billionaire and convicted felon, with alleged ties to organized crime, according to annual reports by the Pennsylvania Crime Commission. Larry Sparano took a particular interest in deNaples, and did a series of investigative reports on him, which eventually cost Larry his TV job weeks after DeNaples threatened him with unemployment. Because many local businesses do business with DeNaples, they refused to advertise in The Metro and pressured others not to advertise as well. This could have been Paul Williams shining moment as a crusading journalist fighting the billionaire landfill boss as head of a small town paper. Instead, Williams revealed his true colors and went, hat-in-hand, to see DeNaples and asked him to help the Metro with advertising and to use his influence in securing other advertisers. In exchange, Williams decided not run any more negative stories about DeNaples. This was confirmed when Paul refused to run a story by Sparano about a criminal investigation into DeNaples’ son, who was being investigated for allegedly discharging a firearm in public. When I confronted Williams with the incident, he was adamant that he would run no more negative stories about DeNaples because the paper needed advertisers to stay afloat.

The final straw came when Williams assigned environmental writer Paul Ferraro to do a story on DeNaple’s landfill. Ferraro took a tour of the facility and wrote what he felt was a fair and balanced piece, with both positive and negative points. He turned the story in, I read it, and agreed it was a fair story and told Williams so. Then the phone rang and I answered it. It was Louis DeNaples asking for Williams. Apparently Williams had faxed a copy of the story to DeNaples for HIS APPROVAL! DeNaples then dictated edits to the story over the phone and Paul Williams, defender of the truth, compliantly began striking the negative items from the story. I could not believe my eyes. After that incident, Sparano, Ferraro, and I all quit the paper. Paul Williams, unapologetic, stated he was tired of operating the paper at a loss and that DeNaples had promised to deliver advertisers to the paper.

A couple of years later, Paul Williams wanted to sell the paper, but he didn’t want certain shareholders to benefit from the sale, namely me, a 5% owner. The Metro was incorporated under Metro News Inc. Paul created a dummy company called Metro Syndicate Inc. which he sold to a Pittston businessman, then transferred the assets of Metro News to Metro Syndicate, leaving Metro News an empty shell and worthless on paper.

Williams continued to work for The Metro for a while then left. Later, I learned that the Metro, under its new management was used as a 3 million dollar money-laundering enterprise. I don’t know if Williams was still associated with the paper at that point, but I doubt it. Williams may lack integrity, but I don’t believe he is a criminal.

Now Williams is passing himself off as a terrorism expert and an FBI consultant or informant, giving people the impression that he currently consults with the FBI on terrorism. I neither know of nor ever heard Paul Williams state that he is actively consulting with the FBI on terrorism. He is more than likely using the label from his pre-911 discussions with local FBI agents on organized crime in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Paul should know. He sold his beloved weapon of truth The Metro to people who used it as a three million dollar laundry for profits from prostitution and drugs! But what are his credentials as an expert on terrorism? What training has he received? What special work has he done in the field that would qualify him as an expert? By his own admission, anyone could have done his book research with “a telephone, a computer and a library card.” Paul Williams is relishing all this media attention, knowing full well he has everyone completely sold on his status as an "expert" on international terrorism. Well, not everyone.

Don’t get me wrong. I am not against the intent of Paul’s books. I’m sure much of what he has written is true because he probably got it from some reliable internet sources. I am a political conservative and fully support the war on terror, but I wouldn’t spend a red cent on anything Williams wrote because the man has proven that he has no journalistic integrity. This is a man who once bragged to me that he had the ability to write movie reviews without ever having seen the films. This is a man who betrayed honest journalists who dedicated themselves to his newspaper by selling out to the local “Boss Tweed.” Whatever trouble Paul Williams is in as a result of his book, I believe is probably of his own making. Why should honest hard-working Americans run to this man’s aid, just because he claims to be an expert on terrorism? Do yourselves a favor and DO NOT contribute to the Paul Williams Defense Fund. Trust me, he’s laughing all the way to the bank. Send your money instead to UNICO or some other organization which supports our veterans…THE REAL ANTI-TERRORISM HEROES!

By the way, for the very brief period that Paul Williams was a newspaper man, very few people read his work. The Metro was a small 28 page tabloid weekly with a paid subscriber base under 10,000 compared to the local daily which had a readership of over 100,000. His claims of being a “seasoned and award winning journalist” are highly inflated when compared to noted national career journalists.

Editors Note: I have been briefly discussing a few issues with David W.T. Carroll, esq. the attorney in charge of Dr. Paul Williams’s defense fund. In regard to comments which Gary Cangemi made in his writing on Dr. Williams, I feel that it is necessary that I add this note for the consideration of anyone who might read this article.

Even though it is my opinion basing it upon Cangemi’s view, “a lawsuit as a result of his reckless style of journalism” that Williams got himself into hot water by a reckless approach to his reporting, that Cangemi was suggesting that Williams is laughing all the way to the bank in that others would help him with financial aid to get him out of something which Williams had managed to have gotten himself into.

I don’t believe that Cangemi was alluding to the fact that Williams or Carrol were using the donations to the defense fund in an improper way. It is clearly being used for the purpose for which it is intended. In any event I offer my apology to Dr. Williams and Attorney Carroll for any possible misunderstanding that he was being impugned about his integrity in overseeing the fund.

In addition I offer Dr. Williams opportunity to state his position on the comments made by Gary Cangemi.

Snake Waxes Legalistic

Imagine a company for its own reasons decides that a problem which they have will simply go away if they ignore it. I at one time worked for someone like that. It was his management style. And I have to admit that it worked quite well.

He would simply ignore all of the issues and the ones that just wouldn’t go away he would eventually deal with. I call it the “Collins Effect.” And I am currently in the midst of one of those Collins Effect situations.

However one thing about the Collins Effect is that the few that you do have to deal with absolutely must be dealt with because they are the long lived ones which never go away until you address them.

And the creation of a highly hostile workplace in violation of company rules is one of those category five hurricanes which blow through from time to time. The only way to make the matter go away is for the company to do the right thing.

And if they fail to take decisive action very soon then they will have to deal with the multi million dollar legal action which they will find themselves confronted with. And in light of the companies own polices and the facts of the case as testified to by several people I fail to see why there is even any delay in doing the right thing.

After all if the attacker doesn’t leave then the victim must himself leave. That means that he must take action in order to be compensated for damages. Then the only really big question left is what color will the Lamborghini in the five car garage at the new house be?

You Cannot Understand Me

When someone has always been there for you and then you suddenly turn one hundred and eighty degrees and walk in the opposite direction what must people be thinking? I can imagine words like rat fink or traitor hardly suffice to capture the emotion. But are they truly deserved sentiments?

I suppose that if you are sitting in a fine hotel room at Courtyard By Marriot Baltimore and spending the companies’ money just reading this blog, it is pretty easy to look at life and be content. But when you have to think about the future from my vantage point perhaps then you might understand.

While you are sitting at a fine table in a restaurant do you think about things like death threats? I can’t imagine that you would, but I have been thinking about little else. So, I hope that your visit to Baltimore is a pleasant and safe one. It is a beautiful city after all.

The Inner Harbor is wonderful. So, enjoy your stay. Sleep well my friend. Sleep with the knowledge that what others do keeps you living in comfort. Let the man who labors be paid for his labor.

We all labor for the same cause. We all deserve to enjoy some of the fruit of that labor. I suggested that you cannot understand me. Perhaps you can. So be well friend.

Under a Battle Flag! The Fog of War!

Since Union activity at the Quest Diagnostics Teterboro Business Unit is likely to ramp up very soon and since Snake Oil Sam’s Radio review was never intended to become a soap box for any agenda other than my own, I believe that some changes are needed.

So even though I will likely still be making personal comments about that company and its current set of circumstances here from time to time I believe that the union issue is so complex and about to explode that I have created a special blog dedicated to issues of the brotherhood.

So you might want to go to Quest Teamsters 97 if you want to read what is blowing in the wind. It will likely get bold, brash and in your face. I make this site available to the brothers so that they can have their say on a true cyber soap box.

It will allow them to take it to the street. That is of course the place where such speech belongs. The only way to speak about the issues is right out in front of the company store. So let the light of truth shine down.

Unlike my policy of permitting all sides to be spoken at Snake Oil Sam, this blog is exclusive to the postings of the brotherhood, although all are welcome to read.

Union puts Quest Diagnostics on Notice

Just when everything seemed to be quiet at Quest Diagnostics those bothersome people at Teamsters Local 97 advised the management of Quest Diagnostics that papers have been filed with the National Labor Relations Board.

It comes as no surprise that this action has taken place. Some expected it to come sooner then it did. But it will ultimately lead to another fight to win the souls of the corporate faithful.

I can’t speak for anyone else but I don’t think that there are as many faithful as there had been in the past. It will take a great deal of effort on the part of management to win the day.

According to a memo distributed by management to logistics department employees the election will likely take place within the next several weeks. The company will provide information related to the union and its rules, history, record of strikes and problems with the law.

Actually the only thing that I am interested in is what brand of hot dogs they are going to serve us at the union picnic? I like Sabrett. But Nathans’ is also a good brand. As long as the beer is cold I will deal with the hotdog issue later.

If the company wants to tell us about the legal issues with the union we already know about the son of the big guy. But since the F.B.I. has thoroughly vetted the current management then I guess that it is cool with me since it is cool with the F.B.I. and those guys you can trust.

I hope the Human Resources Department at Quest Diagnostics is careful about what they say about the union guys. I would hate to see them get into trouble with any legal issue. And I am sure that the union guys have also done homework about some of the financial issues at Quest Diagnostics. You know that company that needs to find more ways to cut costs. Oh, really?

It should prove to be interesting to see who ends up with egg on their corporate face. Wow! This is going to be a fun two or three weeks. O.K. will somebody get me another one of those tasty union picnic hotdogs.

What The Union Objective Is!

After learning of and reading the English translation of the letter written by an anonymous member of the Filipino community of the Quest Diagnostics Teterboro Business Unit I felt compelled to write this open letter even though I have in the past stated that I intend to take no public position on the union issue.

I am disturbed to read that the anonymous writer of the aforementioned letter, allegedly a supporter of the unionization effort, feels, as indicated by his wording that the intent of unionization is to fight against the company which we all work for.

Allow me to set the record straight. Quest Diagnostics is without question a great and dynamic company which I am and I hope you also are proud to work for. The purpose of forming a labor union is simply a way in which the employees can manage to gain a small amount of leverage when it is believed by a consensus of the group that such is needed in order to protect our interests.

It is not the intent of the union to become some sort of bully which will demand everything of the company and expect to provide nothing in return. Unionization will, if anything, compel you to work to the very best level of performance which is possible at all times. That is in fact a part of the negotiation process.

It is the intent of a union to benefit each party since without such an outlook and philosophy there is no way in which a union can benefit you. Becoming a union member gives you some control over the things you will be required to do, but at the same time it places burdens upon you which the company currently might choose to allow to slide.

In the past I have spoken out against unionization as you likely know. At this time I am no longer opposed to such an action since the company itself has clearly changed due in large part to market conditions.

Because of these market conditions the company will likely make many decisions, made by heartless hatchet men, whose job it is to contain costs without any thought of the people doing the job. It is done without malice and without compassion. That is simply the nature of the beast!

For this reason I believe that the time is right for the organizing of a Brotherhood. This will be accomplished under the guidance and legal oversight of Teamsters Local 97 International Brotherhood of Teamsters.

This action will hopefully provide some degree of insulation against the future actions of any management decision which might result in unfair and potentially damaging policies which we currently have no ability to leverage.

Brotherhood, a basic human right! Remember, with a union comes responsibility to produce results which benefit the three sides of the triangle of brotherhood. Those three sides are Management, Local, and Labor.

Unless you fully understand and accept this concept there is no benefit to unionization. By expressing such “everything for me” mentality that anonymous letter writer becomes a deficit to all of us. A union is a layer of bureaucratic law. It is not a get out of jail free card. You play you pay.

Playing Chess on the Train of Pain

Some days I wonder why I think that people really care what I have to say. It isn’t like I have some great insight into the minds and hearts of others. But I often wonder what makes people act the way that they act. It seems that often life is a game of one-upmanship in which the person with the larger ego wins. Ergo, there is never a winner for ego has no limit.

Sometimes people use their position of importance to lord it over others. They believe that because they are perhaps better educated or perhaps possess more physical beauty or drive a nicer car, that they are entitled to be treated better than others. Perhaps they think that they are entitled to more than one parking space.

It might be that they think that others should hold the door for them to walk through as though a queen were entering the building. But what of the ripple effect on the community? Is it possible that the actions of a few colliding in a magnificent perfect storm might well harm the entire community?

Is it reasonable to ask that those who hold authority use great restraint in order to prevent what might result in harm to the entire community? I speak in terms in which only those who play the game fully comprehend the things of which I speak.

I often find myself speaking in terms of enigma machine politics when it is clear that there is no other way to safely say what I want so very much to say. I often speak in terms of music and titles of historic note.

Maybe it is because I am so lost in a cloud of emotion in an attempt to remain loyal to brotherhood and at the same time being loyal to community, God and Country that I speak in such illusive terms.

Truth is proven in my compass as it points true north. But what of the truth which is to be found in the other 359 degrees? I cannot simply discount them. I cannot discount the brotherhood. How can I turn away from brotherhood? How do I justify the response to a wrong with something as equally wrong?

Sometimes the best way to state something is to do so in hypothetical terms. And since I am already being as cryptic as I can be I will make my case in this way. And for the benefit of the entire community I can only hope that those who are able to read between the lines are intelligent enough to absorb what is important and see through the veil.

For what is man but an animal, yes an animal which sometimes acts more as animal than man. Yet he who is truly blessed is the man who is able to act in a humble manner and find that a word when mild turns away rage.

What if someone did something which was rude and inconsiderate? Would the Man of God react in a way in which pain would be inflicted upon the entire community? Would it not be better to allow the wrongdoer to be forgiven with a simple chastisement?

Is it the fear that such an act of mercy would be perceived as a weakness that prevents the Man of God from being merciful? And what if that person were to face execution for the wrongful and shameful act?

Would not the brothers of that executed man demand blood? And rightly so! Would they not make a case before a judge that the man of God has in the past acted in mercy toward others who have been guilty of far worse crimes? For indeed such is the case.

Yes there are examples of threats of physical violence and perhaps even physical violence which have been forgiven. Yes, actions which resulted in only a few strokes of the lash as justifiable punishment.

Would not a judge conclude that someone who has been executed has in fact been executed for speaking out in favor of the brotherhood? Would the judge conclude that his law has been violated and that in payment of the shed blood then the brotherhood should be firmly and legally established within the community?

But even before such a thing were to occur what might transpire on the train of pain? Is it something which the Man of God is willing to deal with? I hear music and words of bygone days. I hear sounds of San Francisco, the sounds of a free generation, a generation of love. But can I trust the words of the melody. Can I trust that day? I can’t trust that day.

Pray the Man of God should display great wisdom. All is fair in love and war.

Paul Williams! A Person of Interest in Washington

Well, it looks like someone in the U.S. Senate is interested enough in Paul Williams and the McMaster University issue to take the time to read some blogs on the subject. I hope that he found some useful information here.

What a great titled, Sergeant at Arms. It reminds me of the time Spanky and the boys at the He Man Woman Haters Club appointed Butch as Sergeant at Arms. He looked right at the gang with the discipline paddle in hand and said, “And I’m just the guy to do it, too!”

Quest Diagnostics and an Issue of Accuracy

Quest Diagnostics is a company which prides itself on accuracy. Without accuracy in testing results the company has nothing with which to lift itself above the crowd of competition. It is Quest Diagnostics reputation for accuracy which creates a market of medical professionals who contribute to the continued success of the company.

Accuracy is not only a requirement of the company for those who perform the work; it is on the level of a philosophy of the management team of Quest Diagnostics. So when anyone does anything at Quest Diagnostics it is always done with accuracy in view. It is an ever present mantra. Accuracy is something which requires constant monitoring.

When an inaccuracy is discovered it must be corrected in order to avoid any damage to that reputation of a company known for accuracy. If one single aspect of the company is not accurate then people might begin to question if they can continue to rely on the company for accuracy in other areas such as the results of medical tests which are relied upon for the health of people.

Having said that it is important to point out that contained in a paper handed out to members of the logistics staff, in an effort to convince them that a union is not in their best interest, there were several highly inaccurate statements.

Since the inaccuracies were so very prominent and since the entire paper was predicated upon those inaccurate statements the entire paper proved to be a laughable failure at an attempt to dissuade the staff from voting yes to a union, something which appears to be headed toward reality.

In regard to this article it is not important to ask why the company is opposed to a union effort. The only thing which is important in the matter is the simple question, is the company producing inaccurate information in the effort?

Since the company, as has been my past experience, requires that such information be identified when published as to who authored the paper and since no such signature is assigned to the paper, it is immediately at fault.

It offers nothing more than the blind mark of propaganda. Any paper which is unsigned should be assigned without a fair reading to the realm of trash. Relegated to what my second grade teacher Mrs. Healy referred to the round file.

But since I did read this propaganda and since it was handed to me by management of the company I can only conclude that it was in fact management which produced this piece of anti union propaganda. How high up the ladder of management is goes I have no idea.

But my way of looking at things as “the buck stops here” would require that anything of question distributed directly by management go straight to the office of the C.E.O. Surya Mohapatra and filter its way down. Let me say here and now that I don’t believe for a moment that Surya Mohapatra had anything at all to do with the production of this propaganda.

But since all things related to accuracy reflect on the entire company in one way or other, then he and the entire leadership team should be concerned about such inaccurate propaganda.

Having said that let me set the record straight about the inaccurate statements. It was stated in the propaganda that the writer of the propaganda was “told” that Quest Diagnostics employees were told by Teamsters to “keep quite” when asking questions about the union.

The fact is that no such statement was made to any Quest Diagnostics employee present that day by any representative of Teamsters local 97. And since the company prides itself with accuracy then they should not be publishing things on hearsay.

However it is my opinion that it is not a matter of hearsay, but in fact a matter of creative propaganda designed to fit the theme of the propaganda, titled “The Teamsters Idea of Education.”

The second inaccuracy was the statement “We heard the union said they could get you a big raise.” Again I must state for the record that no such public statement to the group was made by any representative of Teamsters Local 97.

If the company would name the imaginary individual who made these inaccurate statements, I am certain that certain individuals who are pushing the union forward would be more than happy to sit down with both management and that imaginary individual and set the record straight.

Perhaps there really was someone who did in fact state those things to management. It is possible that the individual went to the wrong meeting room and thought that he was at the union meeting when in fact he was actually across the hall at the meeting of N.A.M.B.L.A. the North American Man Boy Love Association.

I don’t know but I do know that he didn’t hear those things said at the meeting of Quest Diagnostics employees and Teamsters Local 97.

As a matter of fact it was mentioned by a union representative that the logistics staff should not even be looking for that sort of monetary result at this point in time. What was made clear by a union representative and more specifically by several members of the logistics staff who are spearheading this effort is that the primary goal and objective of a union is to gain “respect.” Respect! What part of the word “respect” don’t you understand?

I make no representations as to my own belief as to the need for such a union or any lack of respect, but am compelled by dedication to the company in a desire to protect and preserve the philosophy of “accuracy” to make comment on this important subject.

It is important that all understand that writing propaganda, or snake oil, as I like to call it should not be attempted by a novice. It should be left to the stunt propagandist to write anti union propaganda. Propaganda in the wrong hands can get people hurt.

Remember. Never play with matches and never play with propaganda. Scotty to Captain Kirk. Beam me up captain.

Quest Diagnostics on Track

Indeed it seems that the executives at Quest Diagnostics are entitled to “Take a Bow” for the Herculean effort which they have been credited with from the good people on Wall Street. In what seems like a very short timeframe they have managed to trim fat and manage the business in accordance with the demands of both business operation and marketplace.

Of course what is good for the company is good for the employees of the company. Or at least those portions of the company which managed to avoid the Sword of Damocles’. Since it is reported that Quest still intends to trim about an additional $500 million over the next two years, as reported by Forbes, that might just be a little bit of a concern as to what that means in terms of jobs.

No one has said on the record just how that savings is going to happen. Quest Diagnostics like all good companies tend to play their cards close to the vest. That is an issue which should be of concern for anyone contemplating a union. Read that statement how you will.

I recommend this article off the PRNewswire for your reading at the CNN Money website. It is about the Digene Corp. contract which is an extension of the current contract. It seems that things are really going along swimmingly for Quest Diagnostics. Congratulations to Surya Mohapatra everyone involved in the fine work being done for everyone on the Street.

Now on another topic while I am in the mood to offer congratulations I would like to commend the fine job being done by the Snake Oil Sam Quest Diagnostics Reading Circle. You guys are the best. I see that a nice little group of you managed to arrange your schedule to log on in a close knit little group. It’s nice to know that I am so loved.

But I have to say that the selection of reading material was a little on the light side. Legal on the other hand kicked back and read twenty six pages in just over a half hour. I wish that I could read that fast. Education shows!

Signs of Alzheimer’s

Perhaps it’s simply a lapse in memory but when you begin to lose focus and mental clarity it just might be a sign of that stage of life when things begin to slip. But even though it might not be as clear as it once was, there are little tricks which can be employed to make it a little less problematic.

For example I will use the instance which inspired this article. When you are making breakfast for yourself and you go to the fridge to get something. You swing open the door and look inside. Then you think to yourself, why am I looking in this thing?

You turn and look around and you determine that you are indeed in your kitchen and that is a clue. You determine that you feel hungry or thirsty. That is a clue. Now the thing that is important is that you not permit yourself to get a visual overload.

Close the door and take a breadth. Narrow it down to a specific category. Hunger or thirst? If it is thirst it is pretty easy to get to the next category. Hunger can be a little more problematic. Food can vary from meal to meal. But thirst is less of a problem as I just suggested.

If it is thirst it is a simple question of which brand of beer do I want? Remember the beverage remains the same from meal to meal. Breakfast, Eggs and beer. Lunch, Turkey sandwich and beer. Dinner, Steak and beer. As you can see the beverage selection is easy once you have determined the issue is in fact thirst and not hunger.

Food on the other hand can be quite confusing. You need to first determine what time of day it is and that was a small problem for a few days but I will tell you about that later. Once you determine the time of day you need to decide what looks best in there. You need to root around and go from shelf to shelf.

That is the beauty of beer. It is always on the same shelf. But after looking for that perfect snack you decide that it isn’t in the damn thing so you just close the door and walk away sadly. But of course five minutes later you return in hope that in your absence something really good was added to the conglomeration of leftovers.

Now about that time problem I mentioned above. Since I lost my watch for several days I had to wonder did the gremlin take it and hide it on me or was it yet one more sign of Alzheimer’s? I will never know for sure just how it got to where it was found but I have my dear wife to thank for helping me in finding it.

One day she came home all happy and excited and I knew right then that I was in trouble. She said, Snake honey, you know that place in the yard where you haven’t planted a tree yet. I sheepishly said yes, voice quivering.

And she then said, I have some great news. I found just the right tree, and it is out in the S.U.V. would you be a darling Snake and take it to that place, that special place, and dig a really big hole in the ground and put that tree in the hole so that I can sit here and look out of the window and admire it.

So, as I was thinking about the pain in my back I went to the tool room and wouldn’t you know I found my watch. Perhaps I took it off the last time I went to the tool room to get the tools which I needed to plant the last four trees she brought home.

Yes, magnolia trees sure are pretty but so are the purple plum and the apple. This vacation is just about killing me boss. But at least I have my watch again. I can use it to count the days until I return to work so that I can get some rest.

Oh, and one more thing about Alzheimer’s that is important to remember. I guess that is an oxymoron since with Alzheimer’s you can’t remember. Anyway, be really careful when you wake up in the morning and look into her beautiful eyes.

Don’t ever say the name of an old girlfriend. It can get you in really hot water. But honey it’s the Alzheimer’s. I guess that I’ll be building a doghouse next. Now where the hell did I leave those eyeglasses?

Financial Picture Looking Rosy for Quest Diagnostics

Just when you think that things aren’t going so good for Quest Diagnostics you start seeing things reported on the internet that make you think that perhaps business as usual is not far off for this titan.

Of course on the other hand the folks at Teamsters local 97 are just as excited about this company doing well. It is something which will give them more bargaining chips if and when such an event takes place.

Of course it can be argued by the legal staff at Quest Diagnostics that this was done without the help of any union and that they would just be in the way of any such future gains.

Actually I think that they simply want the employees to have a little bigger piece of the pie and executive a little smaller piece. So who’s right and who’s wrong? Who knows? But there are as I said a number of reports out that report to the satisfaction of some that the company is doing well in the profitability field.

You have likely already seen this information, but if not and you want to start your day with a smile you can read what is reported at ABC Money a Brit site it would seem. Of course the company might be a little concerned about the illegal use of its brand on this page.

That is why I don’t do stuff like that. I wouldn’t want to give the folks in legal any legitimate reason to pull the trigger. Then after reading that good news if you still want more information you can click on this link and read about the Teamsters at U.P.S. and what they are attempting to do. I’ll let you decide what to think about this issue. I guess that it can be spun in a number of directions.

Addendum: Go figure? The company’s profits are up and yet the value fell. One thing to be sure, you just can’t predict how the stock market will react to anything. There is even at least one company which I was looking at recently which was conceived and developed simply to wade through all the muck and mire of the world of blogging simply to inform its clientele what is important information and what is unimportant information.

Hopefully after looking at what this blog has to say about Quest Diagnostics it listed me as a blog with valuable information. But I fear that I am listed on the page of Muck and Mire. I wonder if it is more muck than mire?

Quest Diagnostics and the Union Q&A

Someone in Florida contacted me in order to ask me a few questions about the Teterboro unionization effort. I am more than happy to answer mail but I am not quite sure if the individual is truly interested or is simply stating questions in such a way as to indicate that forming a labor union is not in the best interest of the Logistics Department of the Teterboro Business Unit.

In any event, I will attempt to answer those questions, but since writing is a very time consuming thing for someone like Snake Oil Sam, since my maxim is “why say in one word that which you can say in three words,” I will respond to the question/statement on this blog so that while answering the questions I also get to write a new article. If you have the patients to read it then I have the patients to write it.

As an interesting side note on Friday no one read this blog during the hours of 2 to 4 a.m. and the hour of 8 a.m. and the report isn’t compiled yet for the final hour of the day.

I guess that translates into two hours for sleep and one hour for the caffeine fix. The majority of the reading is done between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. which I guess means that not much else is getting done in Teterboro around lunch time.

Actually in all fairness they pretty well spread out the time spent doing the daily Quest Diagnostics Snake Oil Sam reading circle over the entire day. My Homeland Security friends at Picatinny Arsenal tend to show up at just about any time of the day. It’s a bureaucracy thing you know. The only thing that I really care about is that they show up.

So, in order to do this right let me first reprint the question/statement from a reader in Florida then I will continue with my comments. First let me state that this in no way represents the words or opinions of the executives of Quest Diagnostics and anything stated here is representative of what amounts to my opinion. And I might add that “my opinion” is subject to the legal disclaimer which can be viewed by clicking this “my opinion” link or at the legal disclaimer link at the bottom of this page.

Now the readers’ question/statement:

Will you tell me more about Quest logistics & unionization? I came in late to SOS & I'm sure there's an update from your source anyway. Can you imagine drivers actually agreeing to pay $40/mo for union dues? I doubt if they make enough denero for paying in dues. What would they get besides joining a group? Michigan found out too late the damage unions can bring. They were good in the hay-day of industrialization but they are 'almost' a dinosaur now...Walmart, Chinese low cost imports etc. Only miners & sweat shops need unions. I wonder if the union thing isn't really a corp-sponsered "poison pill" to thwart any leveraged buyout attempt (LBO) in addition to that last purchase that Quest company made wherein they spent way too much!?!

Also, what will you now discover about Quest being bought out/taken over by perhaps GE Healthcare?

O.K. I guess that the best way to do this will be to comment on an issue by issue basis.

In regard to the first part of the question tell about Quest Logistics, simply stated they were at one time the most important and well respected part of the team at Teterboro. They always go above and beyond the call of duty. I have known people who have run the gauntlet in order to collect specimens. You will find no more dedicated staff at Quest Diagnostics then the group at Teterboro Logistics. Just as an example they have learned to operate submarines simply to get the job done and get into the laboratory in the rain. (sorry inside joke)

In regard to the second part of the question, as you might or might not be aware this same department attempted to go union about two years ago. The union effort failed for a number of reasons. The company fought a hard won victory. They did so by a number of ways. They made a few statements which indicated that changes would be made if the rank and file, no that sounds to harsh, the crew, no that sounds to mafia, the R.S.R’s, there you go, leaned in favor of the company. Translation, a NO vote to the union.

The company attempted to hold up its end of the agreement. But apparently there have been a number of issues which have occurred such as the termination of an R.S.R. who became very seriously ill on the job. After a very poor response from the E.M.S. Company which seemed to have treated a very sick man as if he were a drug addict he was eventually transported to the hospital. His condition had nothing to do with drugs.

A short time after that incident that individual as is my understanding was nearly killed in an accident when he was struck by another motorist after exiting his vehicles to fix a flat or for some such reason.

It was reported at a union meeting that this gentleman was terminated for what some staff consider unjust cause. You need to understand that unjust cause is cause when you don’t have union representation.

Right or wrong this is one of the issues which outraged some who are leading this union effort. It is only one example. There are apparently others such as forcing someone to return to work even though he was recovering from a bout with some form of cancer. It was apparently “come back to work now or be fired.”

Sorry but my source is out of circulation as it were. But this is going to be a long drawn out issue. And it is not something which is just going to go away.

Yes, actually I can! One of the issues is the cost of healthcare insurance. Even though the company pays a considerable amount for healthcare insurance, so do the employees. One of the goals of the union negotiators will be to get lower paycheck deductions so the bottom line is in effect $40.00 a month less for healthcare translates into $40.00 a month more for union dues.

The effect is that the company Quest Diagnostics pays the union dues for the employee. Why should the employee care which envelope his money goes into bottom line is he will get Company paid union representation.

Will the company agree to such a deal? Who Knows! The company will quickly point out, in the process “everything is on the table” in a union negotiation. The company will also quickly point out that the union could cost you to lose benefits. It is all a head game on both sides.

My personal belief at this point in time is that the employees won’t lose anything more than the respect of the management. The problem with that thought is that when someone with cancer is told to “come back to work or risk being fired” then the employees of Quest Diagnostics already have lost the respect of the management. And I really mean that Wendy!

The Route Service Representatives at Quest Diagnostics Teterboro Business Unit make anywhere from $30,000.00 to $75,000.00 a year. Some a little more. It is not unusual for an R.S.R. to drive an Escalade or some other high end large carbon footprint S.U.V. to get to work. The issue is not so much money though you can bet that it is something on the minds of some.

But like I said the expectation is that changes and adjustments in other deductions from the paycheck will balance that issue. The problem here is that if the union is formed and negotiates successfully with the company then everybody else in every other department is going to want their deductions to match a good union contract.

That is why the company is so very adamant about holding the union down. As I stated in past articles which as I mentioned are covered by my legal disclaimer under the retroactive clause, this union effort could potentially spread like a wildfire. And with the help of New Jersey National Guard it isn’t hard to get a wildfire going.

Since Quest Diagnostics already makes boat loads of money from members of labor unions who also invest in D.G.X then the Teamsters have a considerable amount of leverage. “These local 97 guys ain’t no pussies.”

Oh, I don’t know, perhaps a little respect. Perhaps not being told that you have to come to work when you have cancer?

Now this is the statement portion of the question/statement which I referred to above. I’m sure that the executive at Teterboro Business Unit loves this comment. Well, not really since Quest Diagnostics makes about a couple million dollars a year from doing pre-employment drug testing for Wal-Mart. Why does everybody hate Wal-Mart? I love Wal-Mart!

How about the fire and police unions? You forgot them. And how about construction workers unions? What about Medical professionals like nurses? There are a lot of people who have very respectable jobs who have unions. As for Michigan, did the trade unions kill it? Or was it perhaps the actions of corrupt politicians, mostly Democrat politicians, who sold America down the river a long time ago? You know; the ones who allow China to undersell American workers, the most skilled and dedicated workers on the planet.

No! The union effort is no poison pill. I suggested that it would be something which might keep the hounds at bay, but it seems, according to the “experts” that there are far too many factors which cause Quest Diagnostics to not be a buy out target, at least not a buy out target at the moment in time.

As far as Quest Diagnostics spending “way too much…” all that I can say is that if you believe that you are more qualified to make those decisions than is Surya Mohapatra then get into the Lex and head North. Take Interstate 95 North to New Jersey Turnpike and take exit 16W to route 3 west. Follow the signs for route 17 south. Look for the Copper Ridge Center.

Your office is waiting. Just tell Surya that you have a plan. I’m sure that he would love to hear from you soon. Tell him that you are my pal. That will really get you in good with the boss. Just make sure that there are no sharp objects near his desk when you say that.

For the record the things which I have stated here represent my view of the situation and don’t necessarily represent my opinion about the need for or support for a union.
